MDW project. Doing my first motorcycle track day next weekend and am planning to camp out the night before so I needed a sleeping platform. Finished the center section today and tomorrow I’ll make the wings.

I have been watching the dirt every day shows on the motor trend app and love it.
Makes me want to buy 1 Tom axles, 40 inch tires with bead lock rims, a decent used transmission, a decent used or new 205 transfer case and a decent used LS motor.
Then find stupid s*** to mount all that stuff to and wheel the crap out of it.
then pull all the parts and find another vehicle to put the parts into and do it again.

Funny, I've thought pretty hard about this sort of thing. I decided it would just turn into a slippery slope, I would put one tons and 40's under something, then I would decide I needed to have more. I would then put 2.5 ton rockwells with 46's, after that wasn't enough I would need 5 tons and 54's and so on and so fourth until I was back to driving a skidder around in the woods. I think I'll just stop at built 80 axles:)

I think you'll find that one tons with ARBs and 40s is plenty for a full bodied truck.

The slippery slope starts when you decide you want more than 37s. It ends (with a full bodied rig anyway) with 40s and one ton axles.

I'd say buy one of their vehicles off of them, they are always selling Fred always wants too much for them, considering most of the parts were donated by sponsors. Years ago I almost bought one of his vehicles off of him right before I bought the 80, but he wanted an arm and a leg. It wasn't as bad as John Cappa from JP magazine though. I tried to buy their TTC truck off of him one time. (they lived a few miles from me in Canyon Country, CA) they say the sum of your parts don't add up to the total of your value but I don't think he had ever heard of that as his was the sum of the parts times 3.

Still it would have been cool to get this but ultimately the 80 is what brought me to this club so i'm happy with the purchase... plus I bought it for 5k... many times less than what I offered on the truck.

one of my favorite episodes of dirt everyday is the F350 they took to easy hammers courses. That thing was a beast.

Man i'm at this road right now. I don't know whether to buy brand new rubber for the bronco or start to collect one ton pieces (friggen made out of gold for the right ferd stuff). Andrea already wants bigger tires on it but I don't want to stress the axles any more they have survived over 10 years of the 4bt with no breakages while wheeling every trail west of the mississippi. I know that is due to the skill of the previous owner with his wheeling and the fact that he kept the tires relatively small.
Of course now i'm looking for ford D60's I can find lots of Chevy ones, where as I couldn't find any when I had a Chevy.

I suggested you put a dana 60 in it, and you dismissed it, saying "nope, too expensive, just gonna be a light wheeling truck"

Don't think I ever said light wheeling truck it has already done every hard trail out here. I most certainly did say to expensive at the moment and it is, which is why I said collect parts. This won't be done by the end of next year as I'd be looking at around over 4k in parts and I don't have that kind of cash lying around.
Although I was about 2 hours too late on a front D60 at a pick n pull last Saturday.
My reason to start collecting and being at these crossroads is I can't find a decent set of used tires in our current size. If I buy new it would be a waste because we would never put those kind of miles on it to wear them out. I don't need to go one tons to get every trail, but if Andrea truly wants bigger tires then it will become a need.

pretty much every build that they have done has a combonation of the parts I mentioned. Some of their builds are awesome and some not so much.
the fun part for me would be to find some obscure vehicle and build it up then rear it and see what it can do off-road or for what ever purpose it’s built for.thats the premise behind their show. Of course they have sponsors which I won’t have so reusing the same parts (fixing as I go along) would be crucial so I am not hemorrhaging money since it be mostly for fun.
In a year I will have way more time on my hands so I might just do it. I enjoy the build process and I can learn as I go. Maybe the first or second time I do it I might **** it up but that’s part of the fun and I have zero issue with learning as I go.

Nah. I want to build my own crap just like they do. That’s the fun part. Wether they work well or not.
I’m low key looking for an extended cab f250/f350 4x4 diesel 06 or 07 just like my current f250. Then go from there. I would love to remove the body and put a 60 body on it. Of course there will be people that say I’m crazy or that it can’t be done but **** it. I have done more with less.

I'm sitting in my living room listening to a snake crawling above me in the attic, between the insulation and the ceiling drywall. The cats are going nuts trying to figure out what's happening up there but the dog doesn't care. I hope it's only the black snake that I saw up there last week.

Funny, same thing here yesterday morning, no cats though, our dog was barking at it.

My friggen cats have been bringing me all kinds of gifts lately. Birds, dragon fly's, squirrels, etc.....

Heard there was some pretty bad riots in downtown Fayetteville and downtown Raleigh last night. From what I here it’s supposed to be bad again tonight.

Yup. Fayettenam was the worst of the Carolina area I am aware of.

It wasn’t peaceful by any means, but I would say it was fairly low level as far as “riots” go. They tried to burn down the market house in the middle of the traffic circle downtown and a few of the businesses got smashed up some. No widespread destruction we’ve heard of.

Supposedly there was going to be some targeting of specific neighborhoods last night, but FPD instituted a curfew that I think helped stop that.

Something was supposed to happen at the shopping center outside my neighborhood this afternoon. A couple squad cars came by during lunch, warned the businesses, had them close for the day, and then stayed in the area. Nothing materialized.

Raleigh downtown was interesting. Twitter from multiple accounts and views and personal cameras showed peaceful protest until RPD showed up and starting kicking butt and shooting tear gas. No idea which is true. Wasn't there.

Thought provoking podcast. Would like opinions if you have time to listen. I have been around this crap my whole life growing up in Johnston County and being from NC.
