Between a crazy work schedule and having parts of my personal life blown up, been a bit busy ... and the demise of the iPhone app has made access to MUD a bit of a biatch at work ...

To give an insight, I bought a commuter car and started driving it the first week of February ... turned 10,000 miles on it two days ago ...

But I'm baaaaaaccccckkkkkk ;-)

Random question .... I cut cable about 6 months ago and really haven't missed it that much. On the other hand I would like to see the 100th running of the Indy 500. Is anyone using an antenna on their tv and having success?

Added tips appreciated.

I use it without any issue. Just one I picked up from Best Buy for $30.

Plug in your zip here and then you can buy an antenna that has a range for the channels you want - AntennaPoint.com - Antenna Locator

If you want a good HD antenna take a look at the ones made my Mohu. They are made here in Raleigh and are good. They are a client of mine and they gave me a free one to try out. Their website will be able to tell you what stations you can pick up based on you address.

I'm out of bait so its time for bed. Yes, we kayaked to a camp site. Total bare bones for me.

did you ever drive down that road that played the lone ranger song?
Oh, yes, of course! It had been on Avenue K, I believe, but it made so much noise that the locals made Honda rebuild it further out on like Avenue C or something? The street letters escape me, but I do recall hearing it from a friend's house that lived nearby. It was pretty loud, and while they liked it at first, it irritated them each time they heard it after only a few weeks. I thought it was pretty cool - we drove on it quite a few times.

Yeah, Canyon Country was a cool little location. If we ever move back to Palmdale, we'll look at Canyon Country / Santa Clarita or Leona Valley before moving to Tehachapi / Bear Valley Springs again.

looks like badin lake? We kayak and camped there years ago
I think he's on one of the two tiny impoundments between Fishing Creek Lake and Lake Wateree on the Catawba. Just upstream from me ...

I've tried multiple indoor antennas over the years - @LockedNLoaded I think is right - when we were in CLT we ended up with the mohu leaf 50 and it had the best reception/stations at two locations.

Amazon.com: Mohu Leaf 50 TV Antenna, Indoor, Amplified, 50 Mile Range, Original Paper-thin, Reversible, Paintable, 4K-Ready HDTV, 16 Foot Detachable Cable, Premium Materials for Performance, USA Made, MH-110584: Electronics

if you are in or near a metro area you should get a good number of stations - antennaweb.org is another good site to check what stations/antenna combo would work best.

Also used sling tv for a couple of months which worked well - but not sure what station the Indy 500 is on.

I went to the Indy 500 in 1972 with my father, I was 12. We were in the pits etc, had a great time. Mark Donahue won. Mike Mosely had is super charger blow right off the top of the motor right in front of us, on the main straight. That was a sight.

Making the trip to Indy "Pre-family" was the norm. Perhaps when Brent is a little older we'll make it back. I'm glad this year is a sell-out crowd. Things were looking pretty sad there for a while.

Amazon is making an antenna delivery on Sunday, perhaps in time for green flag action.

Thanks guys.

We got rid of cable almost 4 years ago and the leaf is definitely the way to go. We get a lot of channels even out in the country. Of course the only thing I ever watch is the office on Netflix.

yep I miss the desert every day. There are certainly some interesting desert people out there. I've always been a desert and mountain person which is why deep down, as much as I lIked NC, I couldn't see myself staying forever.

I'm sure you went to Charlie brown farms and LACR also then?

oh and here's the road so everyone else knows what we are talking about.

Ding ding ding ding! Minimal boat traffic! Screw the big lakes with all the 250-hp yahoos and jet skis.

I hear you John, we hung out around the outer Keys in the gulf for the same reason, all the jet ski yahoos and go fast boats did not go out there.
