OME BP-51 OWNERS...... ROLL CALL.........

Alrighty, not the best shots, krieten was busy . I sent these to my vendor and asked about it. They reached out to ARB and they are sending a replacement.


I saw Cristo's comment and would ask your opinion on these too. Is it something to worry about?

That's not moisture, that's saturation. I would take the replacement.

I too do all my own work. Takes me about 90 minutes to swap out a strut. I don't do it for a living so it's stress relief for me.
I agree the height adjustment is inconvenient but there is enough data now to nail it the first time. I'm at 5mm preload and perfectly level. It all depends on which spring you use and what accessories you have. Just ask and the mud will help.
I've tried 5 different shocks plus OEM. These are by far the best and I have no regrets.
Sorry if I opened a can of worms. I was trying to put current owners with the issue at ease. Thanks Cristo for chiming in now only as a BP51 owner but as a vendor and installer. (And the company who I bought my BP51s from)

I like to spin my own wrenches as well. I just need a warm weekend and I'll get the replacement in. Once I have the strut off I'll get some better pictures.

My main concern was the fluid build up around the base of the spring. That leads me to believe a substantial amount of fluid has leaked. I'm not sure if it hits the 10% of volume mentioned in the article or not.

I haven't noticed any ride quality loss to this point.

Had the clunk as well, they are sending replacement struts from Australia, guess a big container is on its way.

Still love the shocks.

Well there goes my theory that the clunk in temperature related!!! I can't wait for my package to arrive. If my wife doesn't kill me I might wrench Christmas Eve.

First off, the system should be named OMG-51 instead of BP-51. The ride transformation is unbelievable. Fascinating. Grin inducing. And all that stuff.

Do you still feel the same way after some time and all the clunk issues? Does passenger ride quality get compromised in any way? I like the idea of anything grin inducing.

I certainly still love them. The clunk has obviously been an issue but it's only an issue a low speeds and I'm usually on the highway. With the support that I've had from ARB from the moment I installed them I've had no regrets. It'll be fixed soon. ARB could have said F U our shocks don't clunk. If they didn't send me a replacement a month after the original install I'd still be searching for the source in my stock parts of UCAs.

I've been debating whether it's worth the headache (not counting the clunk). Just overall about the shocks. I do want the OMG feeling (whether it be OME or some other brand) but it seems like alot of work/headache/maintenance. I like components that are highly reliable and that I don't need to worry about if I abuse the vehicle that they are going to break on me. I don't want to have to worry on a heavy landing that I broke my shocks.

I say hang in there. The clunk (according to ARB) is not dangerous. Just really annoying. They are actively working on it and have a GREAT track record of standing behind their products. I have my rears, but will wait for fronts.

How sure are you guys this is even the shocks clunking. I would find it really strange that the new shocks would clunk as well.

Hi Christo I'd love to hear your thought since you probably have the most experience on those.

What else could it be, all is tight, SPC UCA are 6 months old.

No clunk at above 45MPH, clunk on low speed on change of pavement, small bumps of an inch or less, and cobblestones.

The first set was totally fine for the first 6 months, then the clunk started ( no changes on the truck or anything during that time), only difference being the set was installed over the summer.
New set of struts clunked since day two, I took them from the shop there was no clunck, but they had left the compression and rebound from the factory, I went home set them for my LC witch is stock (except your sliders and a set of drawers). Compression 1 rebound 6 for the front.
That morning Clunk fest ever since.

Speaking of, I'm thinking on sending you my LC for a full rehab and lot's of install, I am preparing the list shortly.

I'm thinking I may be experiencing the clunk issue too. I can hear it on both speed bumps and speed humps and the like. I need to take some things out of my ARB drawers and remove my bike rack to be sure it's neither of those....... I'm afraid it's not those things.
