In Ouray last year, I had a loud clack too...and sure enough, it was my spare tire chain.

Any updates on an official statement from ARB on the fix?

Markuson - when do you get yours installed?

Coming from the most "suspensionally finicky" guy I know? That says a lot!! :hillbilly:Hooray!

Me??? Nooooooo!

;) "I'm not a chocoholic...I'm just addicted to chocolate!"

No worries... My colleagues have declared me OCD for 20 years... :hillbilly: I figure they would know better than me...

Don't see a problem with being OCD unless you have to live with them. At least that's what my wife tells me everyday.:)

Any more feedback on whether or not this "clunk" issue has been resolved by OME??

According to the pickiest guy, who has tried more than any (arich), yes. clunk gone. HE's more a crazy-New York pavement driver though.

Off road for me?

-Gotta say--performance wise? BPs have been awesome. Rock guards were goofy (revised now), but just in terms of all-condition PERFORMANCE? BP-51s have been amazing...cold weather noise aside.

At high speed they soak up hits like they're nothing--even hits on the outer wheels at speed while corning on pitted/bumpy dirt/sand, etc in the desert...
-I mean like WOW.

I would not hesitate to *highly* recommend them at this point. Last but also important: ARB/OME has gone above and beyond.

agreed. And that guy ARICH, he's nuts

Do you think they will contact people with older versions of BP-51's soon?

Not unless you've filed a warranty claim. Not all of them clunked.

I did, they replaced the front strut in January and the new one still clunked, they told me to hold on. Do you think I need to contact them, or just wait.

Spent an hour slogging through this thread. I hope that all the ARB users get resolution to the clunking. ARB has a great reputation but I know from past experience that at that price point I would be frustrated at being and R&D resource. But I get it, they are continuing to work towards a better product.

Having said all that, I am looking for a system for my 17 that firms up the ride w/o making it harsh. I do not plan any modifications to my LC beyond the suspension at the four corners. Stock weight and maybe an inch higher in the front. I plan on keeping the stock wheels. I realize a lot of folks here are doing larger builds.

Looks like Icon has multiple stages for the 200 Series. Differences being remote reservoirs, and front and rear control arms. If anyone has any greater insight into the differences in these systems, their applications for my goals, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and good luck to the ARB folks on getting the clunking sorted. I had a supercharged 2010 Dodge Challenger (before the Hellcat) with an aftermarket suspension and I chased clunking for six months. Springs.

So, this is my first post on a 200 series thread as I just ordered my first 200 series. It's the intercooled 4.5 TTD, but with a manual gearbox in the GX-R spec (none of the KDSS or fancy stuff), coming from Gibraltar to Angola in the next month! It also comes with a factory snorkel! =) Anyways, I've been drooling over this BP-51 suspension since it came out and was hoping they'd have released something for the 80 series I used to have over here (just sold it). Now it looks like I might be able to get the BP-51's installed in Cape Town around Christmas time. Do you think the coils and shocks they'll be sending to South Africa will be the new ones. or will they also have the clunking issue? I've only known of one 200 series owner in South Africa who upgraded to the BP-51's that ended up with the clunking problems.

I don't want to spend about $4,000 on a new suspension, drive back home across two countries only to find that one or two of the shocks are crap. We don't have Fox or Icon for sale in SA. They have to be imported from the USA, and besides that, I'm not particularly interested in rebuilding them all that often.

A question I've had regarding these BP-51's is what kind of lift can I expect? I'm looking for 2"-2.5" . I've read about the height being adjustable, but am not quite sure how that works on spring dampening and such. I want an improved ride, and better ride height as I'm off-road a lot. Still, I don't want to stuff the quality of the ride up by making it stiff as a board. Can anyone give me their thoughts and experience?

In time, hopefully at the same time as the suspension, I'll be adding a bull bar, definitely new tires, eaton lockers and maybe a winch. How would the extra weight up front affect the coils and shocks?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and replies!

Wow, clunking halfway around the world

Mark,
Since the clunk appears to be repaired maybe it's time to start a thread or Google Forms/spreadsheet about settings. I've been slowly increasing compression and rebound ( and leaving it for a week) to my present setting and I think I've got it pretty well nailed. It's wonderful!

This is the convention I would suggest when reporting settings. User would just need to copy this and fill in the $$$ signs. (I'll fill in my heights later) I think this would really help new installs.

Thoughts???
