x-2 on stock filter. I don't run the truck everyday--maybe every week, so I don't use synthetic-doesn't keep the parts "wetted"

Have you ever had a problem with wix ? I've got guys on here saying they'll ruin the.engine

I have used Wix filters in my autos since 1983 and never had a problem.

When I had an '86 2F rebuilt in 2015 for my FJ40, I ran the OEM Toyota 15600-41010 filters for a couple of years. Then I switch to a Bladwin B2 filter, which I really like. Being that I can't leave well enough alone, this year I'm running a Japanese JS Asakashi C101V oil filter.

Oh, I was told by the engine builder to run Valvoline 20W-50 in it with no additional additive. Thus I have used the Valvoline VR1 20W-50 flavor ever since.

I haven't seen it mentioned here but in the 80 section there's a lengthy thread with several 1FZs with total oil pressure lose with that Wix filter. Based on pictures in there it seems the anti drain back valve fails and clogs the holes of the filter. With how cheap the Toyota filters are it's hard to justify anything else.

Which Toyota oil filter are you referencing?

I bailed on the WIX filter after seeing multiple threads in the 80 section with guys loosing engines, went to the YZ filter in the 80 (90915-YZZF1). My oil pressure in the 80 improved when I switched to the YZ. I’m running the large OEM filter on the 40 since I bought a handful a couple years ago, but won’t hesitate to go to the YZ after I’m out of the big ones. YZ filter is roughly $4 a pop.

Running Shell Rotella T4 15-40 in both the 40 & 80.

The ones you can get at the dealer. Not the old larger one people are selling for $30 in the classifieds. I have a stock of the old foam element filters I'm using in my 40 and 80 but when I'm through I'll just get what the dealer sells me.
