Why can't we get these?
V8 TD LANDCRUISER UTE 2007 - AIRBAG REAR 003.jpg

we only get s***ty vehicles in North America dude... ever since 1986 anyway, which was the death of the North American Toyota diesel!!! Sure there have been sone nice engines in foreign cars and trucks alike... but very few diesels...

Damn she is a beauty isn't she, and I didn't even think I liked those new LC front ends! It's the only way I could ever pay big bucks for a rig again, if it was a CLEAN RHD unit from a good importer!

God governments suck, and so do car companies for that matter, I hope they all drowned in the drink... We need some new thoughts and trends with our transportation!

Still even in a green world our trucks could run on hemp oil/ canola oil/ veggie oil etc etc... So in my mind these things will always serve a purpose which is more than I can say for the billion s***ty gasser V engines out there...

I didn't care for the new front end too much. I'm officially over it!
I want one.

I am with you on initial opinion on the front end. but seeing that has made me realize that you really cant judge it fairly in stock form.

If the domestic automakers would just hurry up and go under there wouldn't be any more reasons to prevent these coming into USA/Canada. My chequebook is waiting...let me stimulate the ecconomy!!! :crybaby:

:hmm::hmm::hmm: Thats the kind of forward thinking we need. I am writing my congressman.:steer:

i want one! And the new v8 turbo diesels mmm

we have a few around the area but they dont look as good as that

if you like plastic and tin they are fine...
i will stick to 2006 and older...

Hello,

So will I.

Plastic and tin look good but there is nothing like steel in the front. Built tough and built to be repaired.

My two cents.

I agree but i think that big steel bullbar will take a hit from just about anything hah

Honestly, who in their right mind buys a 70 series and keeps the stock bumper? "pre 2.006" models have the puny metal bumper that bends like tinfoil if it even senses it's about tot ake a hit, how is that better than the new ones? It's one of the first parts I replaced on mine, same goes for the rear bumper.

I'd like to see how much of a difference the new headlamps make, because the stock headlamps from the "old" front fascia suck, big time.

yes, but the hood on the previous 2006 are metal not tin.
i have been looking at buying the newer style till my contact started expaining all the plastic and tinfoil parts, couple that with the ugly "i want to be north american" front ends of the newer units and it turned me off.
hey, if the newer body style is what you like .... who am i to judge.

Yup I also find the new ones very ugly... However:
- they look heaps better with a bar on the front, real improvement
- the headlights are pretty good!
- there is a lot more space under the bonnet which is not a bad thing (at least on the 1HZ engined ones like we have - no idea what it looks like with the V8 inside!)

But I really enjoy the old fashioned 70 series front... amazing how many people that don't know cruisers refer to them as "those old Toyotas", and I am quite happy that I got mine just before the change;)

hey, the only thing I dont like is the "stripes" coming out of the logo on the grille. They should spell out TOYOTA on all LandCruisers... also I didnt know they were tin, but other than the grille and logo I love it. The hood scoop ??? I knot really know, I guess it might look better without one?

...still love the old front ends too... mine smiles at me every day.

Nope, I also prefer the old style, but the new one doesn't look that bad either.

That's odd that they went with weaker metal for the new sheetmetal, but truth be told, the old hood weighs like 3 tons, so anything else wiill seem weak in comparison, hahaha.

I do think it looks pretty sweet with an ARB bumper on though.

I been told the front wheels take a wider stance than the rear wheels, so if you're bush-bashing through (say) savannah scrub here in the Territory you have to cut two lots of tracks.

Hello,

I understand the front chassis members were separated by an extra 100 mm to make room for the new V8 engines. This was one of the reasons to change the front end.

It was also a good reason to move from steel to plastic and tin, but that is just my opinion.

I kept the stock bumper. It is tougher than it looks. Mine has endured a couple of hits (one against a Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero rear bumper) without sustaining any noticeable damage (the Mitsubishi, on the other hand, was not so lucky, but that is another story :D)

I got mine just before the change too, and I am happy about it.

Last, but not least, people not only refers to a Cruiser as an "old Toyota." Every now and then I still hear about "that old Toyota jeep..."

As someone said, if I could get a dime for every time I hear that...
