I'll have to double check, but I'm 99% sure it's in high. Also, I am not sure the speedo has been calibrated since everything has been completed.
A couple of questions:
1. Do you have a tachometer?
2. You have the H55 transmission, correct?
If you have the H55 and a tachometer, in high range, you should see the approximates (verify with a GPS speedo):
- Fourth gear, 2000rpm, equals ~45mph
- Fifth gear, 2000rpm, equals ~53mph
I suspect that you are in low range. If you were, then this is what you'd see:
- Fourth gear, 2000rpm, equals ~19mph
- Fifth gear, 2000rpm, equals ~24mph
The low range example is much closer to what you described in a previous post.
I'm with @mtweller . I bet that another 10% overdrive (as a result of the transfer case gears) would get you into a comfortable 70mph at roughly 2500rpm while also giving you better crawling ability.
Alternately, if you went to 3.73 gears, you'd be at roughly 2000rpm @ 70mph, so that might be better. It really depends on your motor's powerband and ideal cruising speed. FWIW I'm running 3.73s with my 4BT and 37" tires right now. Very soon I will be moving back to 35s for a highway tire.
