Sorry to pollute the thread with my chat! It's just that lately the state and federal government are totally ruining everything out east from the outer banks to the mountains. Trails closed and gated, camp grounds shut down, extra game wardens and park rangers watching your every move waiting on you to slip up so they can fine you, so many regulations no one even knows the laws.. But you are right, there are sadly a lot of dumb people out there.

You can get one on their website too. You need to answer 3 or four questions about fire safety and then you print out a permit.

The link is in the first several pages of this thread I think.

If you can get these online, then it's news to me. I always thought you had to appear in person at any USFS, CDF, or BLM office. Here's a link to the fire permit page of the Eldorado NF web site: http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/eldorado/passes-permits/recreation/?cid=fsbdev7_019067

And they are good until Dec 31, 2013. Then you have to get another one. God help you if you accidently started a fire up there without having one. Your paying for it!!!!! OUCH!

Another plug for Ice House. We stayed there 2 years ago, rolled in very very late and they left a light on and the door to our cabin unlocked for us. Was great to have a bed to crash in and a hot shower in the morning after days of driving, with many more days to go.

T-shirt back teaser pics

Not sure how much longer I can get the shirts ordered to have at the event. But we can sell them at the event and mail them to you.

Load 1 of raffle prizes off to Jeff's for the Mog crew. Doing our best to make them take 2 trips down :steer:

Joel, you kicked some serious a$$!

This doesn't include the Fridge, any of the certificates for goodies, free entries to other events or one more goodie I am suppose to keep the wraps on. :D

Just the goody bags are going to take a truck load of stuff to get in.

And you saw right, 2 winches baby, one with synthetic line already on it.

Oh, and the 2 chainsaws are coming in with Jeff

All I can say is better bring some serious $$ to score all this swag!

I just spoke with Chris Lawson about the RC competition. He hopefully will be able to elaborate more on it, but he is planning on having up to 4 classes to enter. Be sure to bring your goodies and you can sign up for it when you check in at Registration.

I just got word for our shirt guy, that he can take no more shirt orders and ensure he will have them in time for the trip.

I will however be doing another order after the event, because I know there is going to be a huge intrest after seeing them, so know you will still get your shirt. If you wait until the event I will ask for you to cover the shipping also.

Thanks, Eric

Just out of curiosity, has it been posted somewhere how much additional raffle tickets are?

$1 for 1
$20 for 25
$100 for 150

And I'm taking the second truck load up to the Mog Crew in the morning, you won't want to be caught short on tickets!!!! :bounce:

So.... i'm guessing you buy raffle tickets when you get there?

Toilets on the Trail

Being from a relatively unpopulated area, when we need to #2 on the trail, we just dig a shallow hole, pinch a loaf, and then fill the holeback in. I always try to find a big rock or log to cover the freshly turned soil as well.

In CA I understand it is "pack out what you pack in".

So my question is, do people share their portable toilets, or is everyone expected to bring their own?

I don't own one and would rather not buy one. I could most certainly bring a box of those "special" plastic bags though if people don't mind strange asses on their toilets.

Shane and I just got back. Did Loon Lake to Rubicon Springs and back. At the Dam(entrance) there is a nice bathroom. At about 1.2 miles in (just after the Y that goes to Wentworth springs) there is another nice bathroom. Then at little sluice(about 3.2 mi) there is an outhouse. Then at Buck Island Lake (about 5.7 mi) there is a make-shift outhouse (super disgusting). Then at Rubicon Springs (about 7.5 mi) there are many, many outhouses that are cleaned by the caretaker. If you can't make it from one spot to the next, you can put waste in a plastic bag and carry it out. I don't think many bring there own porta pottys, we did last year, but did not use it.

Side note, the sierras are beautiful but the mosquitos are hungry, bring bug spray. Shane took our 80 thru little sluice, but unless you are lifted and don't care about dents, I would take the bypass(there are 2 of them, one between the trees and one squeezing around a big rock). We filled up (24 gals) at the chevron in Fresh Pond, and made it all the way back to Camino with a quarter tank left. :)L.B.

I thought there was a written rule, in Rubithons past, that every vehicle carried a porta potty + wagbags...

...and quit trying to gross me out

The written rule is leave no s*** apparent. Meaning, if you are not crapping in a designated spot, pack it out. The springs has many port a pottys.

That being said, sometimes it's nicer to use your own....
