Been searching and searching and coming up with the big 0 for good camping sites that will make everyone happy.

Then David found a gem
http://bear-den.com/location.html

Prices seem good, bath houses, good amenities

If we can get 15 people then we can do the group site at $7 a person

No closing time I can see.....

Lets get a head count

From what i've seen

Al -2
Brian -4
David - 4

Maybe's
Adam
Johnny
Ramon

who else??

Evan and I

I was thinking about driving down to Gainesville for the UF/USC game that weekend, but I've been traveling a lot lately and don't feel like driving 14 hours roundtrip over a 3 day weekend. Assuming that dogs are allowed in the campground, put me down for yes, and I'll pay the $7 regardless of whether or not I can actually make it.

Cheers,
Kirk

That's 15.... Brian can you go ahead and book it since I still don't have access to the club account ;)

It would take an act of god to get my new driveline installed and ready for this trip.

I'm out.

In Brian's absence and not wanting someone to get it out from under us, I went ahead and reserved the group site using my credit card.

Here are some additional details:
Check-in is 3 pm
Check-out is 11 am
As it is a family campground, quiet time begins at 10 pm and is enforced
Pets in the campground must be kept quiet and on a leash at all times. They should not be left unattended and you are expected to clean up after your pets.
No open display of alcholic beverages allowed. (bring a cup and/or koozie)

I'm optomistic we're going to hit the leaves just right. I ordered new sleeping bags for my girls for the trip. I hope we'll have a good turnout and great weather.

My jetta is in need of a head gasket now as well, so that won't be an option either

No SAT Phone, just a international cell phone... and a laptop. I just didn't carry the club credit card down here with me....

I've seen a bunch of Hilux Intercooled Turbos over here, but not one Banderiante, yet. Even the Ford Ranger and Chevy S-10's are turbo'd and intercooled!

Yep we don't get the cool stuff even from US based companies. :frown:

If I'm not working my lady friend and I will come up. Odds are good I'm working but I'll try to be there. Who knows, maybe I will have my own 40 by then. Plus it's only like 2 hours from me so mayhaps I'll just swing by to say hello. Should the be perfect time of year.

And all this assumes there is room for two more of course.

Plenty of room

There does sem to be an extra charge for pets but we can deal with that when we get there and split up the total cost.

Besides enjoying what the campground has to offer, hiking in Linville Gorge to see the falls and driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway to admire the leaves, here are some ideas of family friendly things to do within a reasonable drive:

Pick apples and listen to live music at the Historic Orchard at Altapass located right near by off the Blue Ridge Parkway.
