October Event Black Balsam with UC

UC has nailed down the dates for the black balsam trip.

Here is their thread for it. They are the experts when it comes to that area and will be doing most of the coordinating so I would post up if you are going in that thread also aswell as ask any questions.


I personally have never been there but all the pictures look amazing and is one of the last places in NC to find a camping spot away from it all expo style.

We're going. Please come. We know a lot more of you guys then them.
It's pretty loose for Saturday after breakfast at the Pisgah Inn. A bunch of family types will probably drive north on the BRP to Mt Mitchell for coffee and good stuff and views. Some will come back to Black Balsam probably. Shining Rock Mtn is a fairly short walk and very cool, Graveyard fields is a little farther in another direction, there's a neat little waterfall kids can play alpinist around. Devil's Courthouse is just up the BRP, it's cool. Watch hawks there iirc.

Or you can do something else or go home. We have always gone to Mitchell then on up to a park campground but this time I want to just make camp once.
