Sound like somebody has spent a few years studying philosophy. That's enough to make a guy go insane and become an airplane service technician.

Yup, someone has a degree in philosophy....those parts guys at AmToy, they're so diverse :D

Shawn, I will make you a deal...

my 40 is actually an auto. that's what makes it tough to decide. :D

glad you may be able to make it!

Guess I never paid attention. Seeing the 45 once, I don't even think about the 40. But in the whole thought process, the 80 should be a more comfy ride. I only offer cuz, I am getting to the point of hating driving. Even dropping down to 600-700 from 800-1000 miles a week I still hate it. As far as Moab, I just checked on the Kabins, no single rooms available, just two rooms now. :bang: only 15 bucks more a night. So 60 more that should be gas money. You know what, F it, I will be there either Thursday night or Friday. I've lived through worse. Like Jon said it is Moab!:bounce2:

Change in plans / reservations. My son Tim is coming too, so we swapped our single for a double across the path. That means the single next to (between?) Evan and Jon is now available.

Well. I guess I am commited now. Just booked a 4 night stay with Steve (in like Flynn, white on rice, fat kid on a cupcake, feel free to add any more) moving out of the single. If next to Jon, just make sure you don't eat what you ate at that Mexican restrauant last year (I don't want to smell that schit) :flipoff2:. Don't get offended if I don't make the dinners, cuz I plan to be on a budget. Hell, I was going to say if anyone see's my cruiser in front of their kabin and someone sleeping, don't get me towed. T-minus 7 days :bounce:

good news from the Doc. no surgery. but i have 5 weeks 'till a re xray to see if it's healing. it apparently fairly common for a joint fracture to not heal. if that happens he'll have to put screws in.
i am very torn. i really want to go to Moab, but feel it may not be a good idea. i can't use the right hand/arm really at all. my desire to wheel, even 1 handed is high. my final decision will be made later as it gets closer. just throwing my thoughts out there.:)

Shawn - Great news about no surgery needed! I think anytime you can avoid the knife, that's a good thing.

I understand that it may not be the best idea to go, but just keep us posted as to what you decide. Either way, get well soon!

T minus four days and counting...

Changed the gear oil in the transfer case. Used Mobil 1 syn gear oil. Also re-torqued the wheel spacers and lug nuts on the steelies. Amsoil grease into the driveshafts.

It looks like my brother-in-law, his wife, and two nephews from Phoenix/Chandler will be in the Moab area, so there's a good chance that some of them may ride along with us for at least one day.

Getting close... :steer:

Evan,
Check the torque on the lower knuckle studs. We've had several guys with problems after a front axle service and even when they are torqued correctly, they will come loose after a few thousand miles.

I just need to get the radio installed and tie my battery down and I'm good to go. Jon, don't mention the "do you feel like you forgot something" feeling. I found out last year that the stuff sack for my sleeping bag filled with jeans, shirts and towels does not make a good pillow. Only 4 days, good, gives me two days before I start to bite my nails and try to figure out where the F you guys are taking me! I won't ask about trail picks, I still remember it is "only an illusion" that we appear to be orginized :D ! One funny thing though, you guys on Hell's Revenge on day one, remember that when we got done, I checked my voicemail and it was my insurance asking if I wanted life insuracnce? Well they call me earlier this year so I can meet with them and go over my policy. Coincidence or fate? All in all, Moab, here we come :bounce: !

Mike & Onur -

Thanks for the good advice on knuckle studs and caliper bolts. I'll pull out my FSM tonight to check torque values. It's a good rule of thumb when wheeling to have properly functioning brakes and steering!

Just a thought

Not sure if Jarred has been out there (I think he will do fine), but Steve mentioned starting with Fins, How about since Jarred won't be there until the Sat. run, we do something comparable to Hell's Revenge (or was that Poision Spider?). I actually want to try the Wedgie this year. Evan, can you give me a spot if we hit that run? Not two cents, but maybe 1.5....

Rudy

Well, since it looks like the weather might be nice ... and since the current forecast is for nice weather the entire week (!) ... I might just drive up with the half doors and suck up the cold mornings with a jacket. I've been gluing the weatherstrip onto the full doors, but the stuff I bought at NAPA isn't holding (Permatex). Should have searched for the 3M stuff.

Hey Rudy -

Sounds like fun to me. The wedgie is on Poison Spider. I'd be happy to give you a spot if you need one.

If we're doing Poison Spider maybe we should go all the way through on Golden Spike? Sounds like Jarred's in good shape with new KM2's and lockers. Maybe we should wait to decide which run when we see who shows up Friday am...

well, common sense is taking over. i should really stay home and let this elbow get better. it's been improving drastically. and then today it has been giving me some problems. i think i supinated the wrist once a bit to far.

you guys have fun.

Golden Spike is always fun. Jarred won't be in Moab until Friday afternoon. We could always do GS Saturday or Sunday as well, depending on people's comfort level with the trail.
