Andy is heading this one up.

Lets start working on a date and what exactly is our game plan. If we need to reserve something might be best to think about it now. Maybe try to get up with the FJC guys who frequent out there and see if we cannot have a big gathering. Lord knows there is plenty of room.

I say not til at least July with class and graduation and several weddings in June one of them being JP's anything prior to that and I have no chance.

I agree, spring or fall trip would be best for me. Fall is risky since it is prime wheeling season, so early spring sounds good to me! :)

If anyone wants to go near term, check out the thread below. Looks like it has been a good trip in the past and a FJC team will be on this one. I may be over there the same weekend but on a separate mission.

As far as a UC trip goes, we just have a group consensus on what dates work. Week, long weekend, both? I can coordinate housing and logistics once we get a date and group defined. Early spring, late fall and winter are the best times to go IMO - less crowds, less heat, cheaper rates on everything, easier to get around, etc.

I will be there for a long weekend in April as it is. I never need an excuse to pack up the cruiser and head back to OBX!!!!! :D

So chime in, who's in and when are we going?????

Fall is prime storm season too FWIW.

Early spring is my annual trip and it is a great time to be at OBX!!

April would be nice but it probably eliminates me instantly, Thesis is due on Apr 10-11 and turn in to the university on the 25th I believe. Apr will be the craziest month ever for me.

Plus it seems a little stupid to go to the beach when you cant even get in the water, its still to cold in Apr.

I am fine with a cold weather beach trip. Some of my fondest memories were up in Mass on Plum Island driving on the beach in my uncles Isuzu and hanging out with warm clothes next to a fire. If this is a couples trip would be ideal for dates too...snuggle up for warmth! :)

Looks awesome...I am in.

I should be able to make this trip. Atleast maybe for a long weekend, not sure about a full week. I'll keep an eye on this to see when you guys are planning this.

What type of wheeling is up there that the trail team would want to go. Are they going to go jump some sandunes in kittyhawk or something. I haven't been there since I was 2, so I have no clue what this place is like. I know my dad, and older brother frequented Hatteras to surf 5-10 times a year. I was always to young. :frown:

Looking forward to the trip, been wanting to head up there for a while now.

Something about these few quotes makes me want to go crack open a beer.

"gameroom w/ beer tap, pool table, foosball & air hockey tables, wet bar with refrigerator; private pool."

And

"outdoor pool table, ocean kayaks, surf & boogie boards."

and this

Tiki Bar

I'm in too. Right up my alley and in my "homeland"!!!

Winter trips are great, the beaches are yours, no Northern invaders, and the locals appreciate the business.

While any other weekend would also be good, could this be an alternative location for MLK if, as Heather predicts, the Forest Service shuts down Tellico for the Winter?

I would totally go there in the winter...sweeet

Thats 180 a person. Or 360 a bedroom. They won't heat the pool in the dead of winter.

I think if we do it in the winter we could probably find something a heck of a lot cheaper.
