Thanks Guys for all of the compliments.

This is the first of hopefully a few build ups i will do.

Will say I have learned alot here and just by doing the stuff on the truck.

Think i will have to pull the intake / exhaust back off though, need to double up on the gaskets i think. Got a vacuum leak from right there that does not want to go away.

Also the carb is acting a little flakey right now.

YeeHaw!

Guess you won't know about the carb until you get the leaks fixed. Where's it leaking from, Darin? I like the red RTV, btw.

Ta, guess i will go to town here shortly and get some of that stuff. It is leaking right at where the intake runner goes into the block still.

I've got a spare F135 intake if you think that would help.

I got one from SOR a while back and that is what i installed. It was not cracked or anything, just does not want to seal. Wife is bringing me some stuff home when she comes home. I had to take a break from it, was getting flustered.

Bad part is, not too sure if the exhaust can be taken down any more, last time i had it turned down it was cutting into the part by the bottom a bit. When she gets home i am going to verify where it is leaking and take it back apart and i think i will make another trip to the machine shop to see if they can measure the 2 pieces and see how far off they are. Like Ed was saying about them being a different thickness. I hope not, got them both at the same time, hopefully together all their life.

I just do not want to mess up these bolts / studs taking them in and out all the time like this.

Need some help here.

Have got the intake leak fixed as far as i know, no change when i spray some stuff around them now.

But i still have a vacuum leak pretty bad. Can run it not choked but it is pretty rough. As soon as i give it gas it runs great, as in no problems, but will backfire a bit as soon as i let off fast.

Need some ideas, probably going into carb tomorrow.

Darin,

If that's the carb off my lv I would recomend tearing it down and going through it. I never heard the motor run when I had it and I don't know the entire history behind it.

So who knows what kinda of fun is inside there ;p

PS, still got to get you that carb/block part. Screwed around all weekend, mostly at the lake.....heading to Oshkosh, WI Wed. morning for airventure. I sure hope you aren't waiting on me?

Say howdy to my dad while you're there. He's the one who looks like me, but older. :flipoff2:

Matt,

It is a carb i found around here and just cleaned it out and tried it out. Have not gone thru one yet, have to get a kit first.

I do still need that part , but have made something work for the time being.

Just when you get a chance i still need it.

Have a safe trip.

Congrats, job well done. You have to wave as if were in a parade so people can tell you are happy driving it.:)

Darin, is this what you need to know?
balls (Medium).jpg

Or is this more like your carb? Different 1 barrel carbs.

That looks more like what i am talking about. It is just one ball with a spacer type thing on top of it from the looks of this pic.

Thanks again.

This the right model?

Yes Sir.

Wonder how important # 26 is ?

I do not have that part at all.

Might have to try and find one somewhere.

Apparently they had the step up rod through april of 1968. Maybe this is where the experts need to weigh in. :D

Ok,

Just got off the phone with Mark and he said that is a metering rod.

He also said my carb would not need it, so all seems to be ok again for a short time.

Hopefully will get this thing together tomorrow and we shall see.

Dave,

Thanks for the pics, I am going to try and finish putting all this back together tomorrow and see.

Thanks again.

Someone else will probably need this pic one day. I know i am keeping a copy now.

That part i was talking about a bit earlier was # 43,44,46.

Is it just me, or is the front passenger-side spring shackle crooked? In a couple of your photos it didn't look parallel to the drivers side shackle.

I noticed that: mine's that way, too. Must be a factory option. :D
