Hey Darin,

I forget you moved this thread over here so I am behind the power curve on your rebuild. I agree with everyone else about the tires. The narrower tires are perfect for the 45. They are even better because they were free. I had the opportnity to get some as well but the damn HMMWV wheels are 16.5"

Have you had any luck on a cab?

i will be starting on my 65 & 66 LV's soon, if i can get the darn things delivered. the first carrier that went to get them could not get them on the truck, they did not have a winch. should be delivered by next week according to shipper. however, my resto will be nothing compared to Matts. i am going to start with the 65. i will be pulling it off the frame thou. but i think i am going to go with a 2F install from my donor 78 FJ55 vs. the V8 b/c to be honest i don't have the enegry or time to do the V8 install although i know i would prefer the V8 over the 2F.

Thanks guys for all the good comments. As much as you look for updates i like to hear from you all also. It makes it so much nicer knowing someone is watching this thing besides my wife.

John,

Long time no see man, how have you been ?

I know Paul / Lomusass can get me one from down south when i am ready for the cab. If you come across some of them 16.5 swampers let me know.

Did you see the 40 for sale in this mornings paper ?

Give me a call sometime.

Darin,

I know that I am following your build - you are doing a great job! Keep the pics coming.

Hopefully I'll start my rebuild in the next few months on my p/u once I get my 40 out of the garage and then transfer some parts from 1 on my 55's to the other and THEN I can start on my 45. I can tell you that mine will be a very slow rebuild.

Darin,
The Army keeps me pretty busy. You know how it is.

I did not see the paper. Did it look promising?

I go on leave (finally) in a few days. Are you interested in helping me out with a valve adjustment? I am currently set to the specs that came with the cam but it taps a lot for my taste.

You have got the 45 looking good.

I will give you a call and/or PM you.

John

Sorry for the delay in some progress.

Had some pretty rough weather here lately as far as rain goes. They can not say that we are in any type of drought anymore.Had to fix some flashing on my roof around where my fireplace comes out at. It would leak when we got a good storm. Luckily it only did twice so i think i caught it in time.:D :D

Seeing as the budget has gotten kinda tight right now for this thing I have decided i will put my own windshield in tomorrow. Got a new glass made for it for 50.00. Also when i get this thing running around on its own i have an appointment at the muffler shop where he is going to run a custom exhaust for about 130.00. I also have one driveshaft at the shop right now getting shortened for the front and will get a different one made for the rear.

Got the hood painted and put on but then figured out that i had forgot to do anything with the hinges, so i went ahead and blasted those and then painted them. They came out pretty good. Had to go get some new bolts for both the hood and windshield hinges today.

Have already done some research thru DMV and it will be tagged as a antique it looks like. Still have to do some research on that though. Might just run regular tags so i can drive it more often.

Will get some pics up later.

Thanks man. I have learned alot on this one though. This is my first one that i did for myself to include all of the body work. Learned some good things about painting. Trying to talk the wife into a LV next for her, but i think she is going to go with an old Scout though.

Update time again, so i have been reminded of.:) :)

Have the tank in now with fuel lines all hooked up. Got about 5 gallons in there right now, and the guage even shows about that much.

Got the heater controls in and hooked up, it all works. Had painted some of the stuff black for this thing but once i started putting it all together it did not look right so i went with the silver for most all of it.

Got most of the front end put together now, got a few more things to get, as in emblems and such for it.

Got the seats in it and mounted, came out pretty good, just got to see if i can find a few more of the seatbelt mounting hook things that bolt into the tub.

Got the windshield cut and was going to install it myself but thought better and had them install it for 20.00. Thought that was worth at least that much. They had also cut the glass for me for 50.00.

Windshield frame is now mounted, and i will be starting to put all of the stuff on the frame in the next few days.

Got the better half in a few pics sitting in the cruiser.

It is slowly coming together.

Darin,

Just came back from the shed, took a few pics.

Pedal assembly you want, right? Pic of the carb and you want any linkage attached to it......?

I'm hoping to remove it tomorrow and have it in a box to on Wed.

Matt,

I need any and all Linkage you have. I have non of it at all. It should be the one rod piece that goes down to about the middle of the block and should have a few springs and such right around there and somehow hook into what you have on the pedal assy right there.

I also need the pedal assy.

I could also use the carb and the metal line that goes from the carb to the dizzy. I have non of that either. If the metal line is really messed up along the way around the head that is fine. I just have nothing but an open hole in the dizzy right now where it should be screwed into.

I owe you on this one Matt.

Again thanks much.

Matt,

I knew you have been doing other stuff right now. Heck take all the time you need. I am just waiting on more updates on yours really.

And when you are going to find a truck.

Been trying to talk mine into a LV but i think she still is going to want an old scout.

Again thanks so much Matt for this stuff.
