Looking really good, Darin. Funny you have the same blue clutch master I had (until it spit on my shoe and died last month).

Thanks Dave. Need some help from you shortly with a wiring thing again. Just making sure i have the Wiper switch right. Will get a pic here shortly but for the time being i can explain what i have here. The back of the switch has 3 wire hook ups on it with 4 wires going into it. The one in the middle has 2 wires going in( one hot from block with another going out ) and both right and left are hot when switched on. Sound about right to you?

Onto the tank for a bit here. When i painted the outside of the tank i used a roller brush with the Rust Bullit paint. I think i am going to leave it just like it is. It is a bit ruff from the roller brush marks but i think it will look pretty good. We shall see.

You're correct about the wiper wiring, Darin. The hot wire from the fusebox comes to one post and the other wire to that post goes on, splits, and attaches to the (+) terminal on each of the wiper motors. It is always hot (when the ignition is on) and powers the motors to the park position. The other two terminals on the switch send wires to each of the (S) terminals on the motors, and power the motors when the switch is in the on position.

Since all of the switch terminals either have continuity (on) or not (off), it doesn't matter which terminal you use for what.

The ground wire on the motors, (-) terminal, is supposed to screw down onto the windshield in the upper left corner. The idea is that the ground circuit is completed through the windshield clamps and hinges to the chassis to the battery. I have found that connection can be a weak link, however. You may have to run a ground wire all the way down to the firewall to get the motors to work consistantly.

I think the Rust Bullet should look good! :D

Thanks Dave.

Yes this truck is definately going to be different. But like anything else a truck is just a reflection of the owner.

Some more progress pics. Just of my decent outside painting skills. Sprayed these parts outside, no wind and good sunshine. They were all black anyhow. I know alot of these things started their life out zinc coated but when you are on a super tight budget they get painted. Once i win the lotto then i will do it better.;) ;)

Anyone have one of the rubber seals that goes around the black square plastic heater tube that goes on it at the firewall end. It is the small thin piece not the longer piece that goes by the heater itself ?

Another update.

Got my rear tail lights mounted. Had to cut away some metal for that. That was not fun but i think they came out good.

Got some headlights in the front mounted now. I ended up painting the bezel black. I did not have any white handy and i was painting black at the time already so black it went.

Got my tank in but i think like the seats it is not for the 45 either now. The fuel filler thing is way off and i think i am going to end up cutting both the filler neck and tank neck also. We shall see. I will get a pic up of that here in a bit.

The 2 pics below are what i am talking about with the fuel filler neck. It is the right neck, i just think that the tank is from a 40 .I was thinking about cutting the neck just about 2 inches and seeing if that will help me some.

Also anyone out there know off hand what fuel hose i can use seeing as i think the one for this one is discontinued. I remember something from about a year ago or so, someone was talking about a different Toyota truck or something being close and having to be cut down.

Thanks

I just did the POR15 to the tank in my '66 FJ45. It is not an orig. tank, but one out of a early 70's 40, I believe. My tank lined up EXACTLY like yours in the pic, i.e. my fuel filler neck and tank neck have a sharp angle and not much gap. I did not cut the tank, but I did consider it as I struggled to get the hose to connect...

It was a PITA because the you kinda have to install the hose AS you install the tank....getting the hose on AFTER THE tank is installed is almost impossible.

Where did you get your hose, or is it the original ?

Just PMed SteveH about the fuel hose for the tank. He had done a write up on it about a year ago. Also seen it was a 2 inch ID and i guess about 5 -6 inches long i need.

Sound about right ?

I tried one from a later FJ40 about a year ago, but I just couldn't make it work. The rubber was too old to adjust. So I ended up supergluing the original hose. That's just how my filler tube and tank line up, Darin. I went out and mic'ed my filler tube, and it is 2 3/16 inches, not just 2. So you'll need a 2 1/4 inch ID hose, I'd say.
