Here's a picture of my Front bumper. Made by me with 1.5 inch pipe ( 1 7/8" OD), weld on elbows, and built off the stock PTO frame horns. All unboltable. There's an Internal bolt behind the shackles direcly in line with the frame. I've been recovered off it. First thing I ever welded. A lot of abrasives died in the making of it. Steel and elbow cost was $340.00 which included a maching shop folding 3/16 in steel into a rectangle for the front cap that went over the frame horns.. Shackle brackets were $75 and I lost count on the buffs and wheels to clean up my teribble welding.

Jack mounts are now gone and mounted off the roof rack at the rear of the truck. Bult a rear bumper too but no recent pic. I'll have to drag one out.

Some nice designs, but a few of these would not pass an inspection - bumpers in Canada, at least, need to be 100mm in height for the full width of the vehicle. The one that bj70_Guy has posted obstructs the rear lights - and that could be a serious insurance problem if someone runs into it as a result. Clint79's is how I would address this.

True - brake and reverse lights are ok but the turn signals are obstructed. I plan to cut a couple of holes and install lights in the main body of the bumper.

As far as front bumpers go, I'd guess a LOT of local bumpers wouldn't pass inspection due to height. A friend of mine was in a light rear ender in his lifted Ranger. ICBC looked at his truck and the first thing they did was measure his bumper height (he was ok). Something to think about.

Thanks Wayne,

Welding is fun. My wife had to put up with me running around saying things like "I make things out the steel using fire."

It's amazing what a pencil grinder will do.

Cheers

John
