Messing around a bit today, replaced the multifunction switch? The signal light thing, on the steering column. So when I pulled out the dash, had to take some slack to get the speedometer cable out. The first two pics are what I saw. But then noticed another similar speedo hose in the engine bay. Last two pics are of hose and what it’s connected to. What is the last pic for?

@pardion solved that mystery for us a few years back. It’s a secondary odometer!

It's an odometer that tripped the egr light for service at a certain mileage.

A speedo cable goes from the bottom of that box to the tcase.

Man, I woulda loved to see a wire harness that intact on my 40, mine was 100 miles of thhn, that looks like you have a rather unmolested rig wire wise.

No it’s not, the cable in the first 2 pics is connected to the transfer case
What he means is, your oe cable is missing.
Looks like a po replaced the two pc speedo cable, with a one pc.

My ‘75 had that…I removed the box and opened up the screws to see the odometer in there…was interesting…I mounted my Hyperspark box in that spot on the firewall and ordered the 1 piece long cable to go direct from the speedo to the drive gear on the transfer case housing

Kinda like chess…you gotta think 4 moves ahead. When I did my Sniper install I had everything I needed. Or so I thought. Then a few very inexpensive parts held me up a week or more waiting for stuff to arrive. When I’m on a roll, that just destroys my momentum. Then when other life choices pop up, I get distracted
How did the Sniper install end up going? Have been thinking of doing the same thing.

I found it very straight forward…easy to follow the manual but…I don’t know a thing about fuel injection. That did not affect anything for me however. The EFI did its own thing and set itself up …That IAC adjustment got me for a few weeks but it has settled down to nothing. So far it is absolutely perfect. My truck starts immediately…even when it sits for 3-4 weeks. I bought the Mosley kit with in-tank fuel pump… I had no issues. I would do it again. No second thoughts. Feel free to pm me anytime

@Mets75FJ40

When I mentioned the IAC troubles…. It was me and my occasional dyslexia that read the words on the page but failed to properly visualize and understand the concept. My oversimplification of the instructions is now:

Do not think of the IAC control as an idle screw speed. It is more of an adjustment required for idle air control. The actual idle speed is set up on the sniper handheld screen in the software when you first run the wizard and while the IAC control will adjust the idle speed Don’t consider using it as such initially and only adjusted after the handheld screen is reading 161° engine coolant temperature.

I believe that will save a s***load of confusion.. at least I think so
