That doesn't look good, how long has that carb been on there since he rebuild? I'm not really sure how to fit that, but I'm sure Jim C could help you. Hope for your sake that he is "The Man".

Could this be caused by having the fuel float level set incorrectly? The fuel level looks to be a little on the high side in the sight glass - more towards the top than the middle.
Is this normal? Is there and obvious fix?
Fuel level should not affect that.
It is almost normal..lots of carbs do that, but yours looks a little excessive.
Did The Man remove and replace those butterfly shafts?
That is a difficult task to do correctly, and I would trust that only to the carb gurus on 'Mud. I believe that the gurus here have the ability to re-bush (or something similar) those shafts.
My guess is that enough goo got through the 2 filters that it started to freeze up the carb. . . is that possible?
Then DRIVE that Piggy and put a few tanks of fresh, $4/gal gas through the system!
Hello -How much might I need to put into it to get it on the road? $2K, $3K, $5K? and would I likely be able to sell it for what I'd have into it a year or two from now?
Thanks so much for your input.
Tom
We took the pig for a good mud bath today:
So, how much did it take to get it back on the road?
Still thinking of selling it?
Tom FJ55 said:My initial cost was basically zero. . . (still need to pay my friend $250 + a drive!). So not counting the 2F, I am just about right at the top of the budget I set at the very beginning - around $3,800. A few big ticket items account for a large percentage of the total:
$450 = Carb rebuild (+Pertronix)
$800 = Seats recovered
$5-600? = Tires
The rest was just little stuff that added up. 100% of labor (me) was free.
I probably could've done it cheaper, but I replaced a bunch of little stuff that added up cost wise in the hopes for longer term reliability.
Haven't been thinking of selling it. . . I doubt I could get back what I put into it especially if I included the 2F. . . not that it's all about the money, but at this point it's probably cheaper if I hang onto it!
