Redneck paint booth

Because of the wind and rain and falling leaves i had to build the redneck paint booth where i painted under the tarp then moved the pieces into the garage.

Vern, you are fueling my 42 itch.

Good work.

Pretty well finished all the painting except one f.u. where my redneck booth flapped in the windstorm and deposited little bits of crap on one door. I have sanded it down and will repaint tomorrow. I found out that wet sanding is my friend and did 400,1000,1500,2000 on all pieces followed by a 3 step cut polish system by Norton.
Turned out real good, see before and after pics.

Damn Vern, that thing is looking great! Those holes buffed right out huh!!! I'm planning on doing the same to my 42 once the shop is up, so if you've got some spare time on your hands and want to do some bodywork, have at er'!
More pics please!

I resquirted the one front door and did the running boards and because it was such a nice sunny day today i gave the whole body a 3rd coat. I cleared out the garage and mounted a heater in the ceiling and drove the beast into the garage. This is the first vehicle in over 20 years to park in there,it's usually filled with so much crap you can barely walk through it. The :princess: was pissed cuz i moved some of the finished pieces up into her sewing room. Sometime i just don't understand women.

Un-freakin real!

Cant wait to see it all together.

I agree that looks great. Can I bring my truck over for a paint job?

Bucket Seat

Installed a genuine Toyota bucket seat today,it will come in handy if i ever crap myself while driving off road.

All the major painting is done ,just a few small items like hinges, tire carrier to paint.Have been putting things back together like door locks, handles, panels etc.
Installed new weatherstrip on all 4 doors and have been redoing all the emblems and decals.

If anyone else is going to redu these 2 emblems the Tremclad color is recreational white for background regal red for the 4.

I painted the rear bumper in Valspar gloss black and i think it too glossy see pic and tell me what you think.
After letting dry for 2 days i hit it with semi gloss black Tremclad and it was an instant chem reaction of some kind and paint wrinkled. You would think i would learn cuz this has happened before using tremclad over other paint or undercoat.

Happened to me a few times with tremclad and it pisses me off everytime, yet somehow even when I swear I will never use the stuff again, I always do.:hillbilly:

Redoing lots of the little stuff now like hinges, taillight covers hood latches etc. and i made myself a Sooke sandblast cabinet. works great and notice the rear ambi door glass as my see through window.

Bought 2 licence plate lights from C.C.O.T.and they came in a Genuine Toyota bag and it was less money than from Toyota.

looking good.
As you probably know you can get stuff cheaper via the states from toyota.
Though recently toyota put ban on all exports from the US to Canada.
Akella on the forum orders from europe and the prices are the same if not better.
I have had nothing but good luck buying stuff from him.

Found a bunch more pieces to paint red like tire carriers, wiper covers, lots of hinges, jack holder and trans cover.

Also found that my bib has a tab that holds a glow plug relay and had to cut and move.Good thing i didn't throw the old one out.

One thing i missed on my hood before i painted was the tabs that hit the rubber bumpers were worn right through so i fabbed up 2 new ones. Now i got to get out the red paint again.
