And a little skim of filler over welds trying to use the least amount of filler to keep it mostly metal.

Primer

Slowandsteady and hellbent came over today to help me set up the squirt gun i bought at KMS. The :princess: said it looked like a garage sale out there i thought it looked like the time Seapotato's apple cider still blew up and took out the goatshed.

Well judging by the rain today we picked the right day to do the priming. I hope you got it all inside in time.

Rigpig gave me s*** the other day for doing squawt over the summer on the 42 so i have been on it for the last week. Body work and primer mostly and found that just when you think you have it perfect you hit it with a little primer and "poof" you see little imperfections you missed. I guess i have to choose something between not acceptable and good enough.

A lot of those imperfections will come out when you block the primer. Thats why its "high build". Just avoid sanding with the finger tips pressing too hard. Get yourself a good straight block and you'll be surprised what that primer will hide. The key of course is to let it cure good and hard before sanding so it doesn't shrink back into the repaired areas.

Looking good.

Key is 24hours for most high builds, expensive 300 gallon stuff can be sanded in a hour or less..

Looking good.

Well it's Oct 2nd and the last of the good days to paint outside so pitter splatter lets get at er. Most of the paint managed to hit the cruiser and not the neighbors cars and it turned out pretty good. A few small runs and some orange peel but what the hell thats why they invented wet sanding.

Anyhow, put the big pieces back on it and lets go get some custom pin-stripping!:hillbilly:
Well done by the way.

Dang, that sure makes me want to throw a real paint job on my truck. Probably not this year... Or decade though.

Incredible resto! I would never have thought something like that could be saved. Hats off to you sir. Paint looks awesome!

On the last good day before the rains i grabbed 3 big pieces and a couple of small and painted them in the driveway as well as a few touch ups on the tub caused by some wet sanding. After a few hours of drying i moved them inside to a rack i built in the ceiling of the garage. Last pic is of my Grandson driving the 42 with his feet.
