well, I had a dash that had been cut to hell by the PO so I had to basically hack the dash out completely and start again. The gauge panel was from cfr racing - I know it doesn't follow the shape of the original dash but I like it. Gauges were from Speedhut - can't recommend these guys enough. Outstanding customer service. Very easy to fit and went with a GPS speedo to save the hassle of trying to mate it to the old output. I know some of you guys are gonna hate it, but I have my flame suit on and I'm all ready for it. Rocker switches are the next to be wired and I think I'll paint the chrome knobs black, not really digging them.

Don't know about others but I like it! Major cool! Where if I may ask, did you find the rockers like that?

Will that 40 go 140? :grinpimp:

What brand did you go with for the gauges? Haven't quite seen that style but I like them!

Yeah, when I looked at gauges i didn't want one that had up to 200 on it so I had this one done to 140kmh. (im in australia) Get on the site if you can, amazing flexibility with what you can do. Looking back I should have got them to do me a tach that went up to 5/6 grand instead of 8 but still very happy with them.

Hey ferociousfish,
I'm looking at buying a set of these gauges as well, and it'd be great if you could answer a couple of Q's for me?
How does the GPS respond - does the pointer move accurately enough?
Does the complete backlit lighting get a pit painful or is it okay?
What did the whole kit end up costing you?
And just out of curiosity... what part of Vic are you from?

Wow, my bad, missed the part where you said they were Speed Huts. Very cool!

That is great, I like the way they are the same color as the dash, how did you do that, paint the same color of the gauges or did you buy them that color?

The gps reads via an antenna (magnetic, which I have stuck between the defroster vents. you can just see it in the photos). The rig is still not on the road yet but I did a lot of research online and the feedback seems to be good. Look, even if it is not accurate I have never had a 40 where the needle on the speedo didn't swing wildly anyway. But I have a lot of confidence in these gauges. The speedo does give you the option to 'hotwire' it so it says powered. This reduces the start up time to log into the satelite. The lcd display also lets you do a heap of functions, including 0-100 and the 1/4 mile!!
In regards to the backlighting, the kit comes with a dimmer knob. You can see I have mounted it just below my headlight switch. I cannot stress how easy this thing is to install. There are daisy chains for the power and the lights on the back then each gauge has a main wire that goes off to senders, etc. The whole kit cost me $600AU including shipping to Australia./ The site lets you customise the gauge color, the backlit color, the font, you can add logos or writing and can specify up to what speed you want it to. For a 6 gauge set I reckon that's money well spent. By the way, I'm in Mornington, so pretty close. You're more than welcome to pm me and come and have a look.

No just picked the color on their site and it is IDENTICAL to the color I painted the truck. Knew it was gonna be close, but it is spot on!:)

Im gonna say it looks pretty sharp, nice and symetrical.and most of all not cluttered.....you can remove the suit!!

Put in my order a little over a week ago, tracking the shipping, should be here today... i hope.
I'll post some pics when I get them.

Gozod luck with em. You love them. Feel free to contact me if youbhave any questions. Just one hint when you connect them. Run separate earths for the dash lights and the acc power. It says to join them but wouldn't work like that. Cheers Dave

I like it. I'm getting a polished one with white VDO gauges.

Speedhut are awesome, i asked them to make the tacho read 6k instead of the 8k minimum and voila...

And finally... the GPS speedo in 'KMH'! It's so hard/expensive to get a kmh speedo and being GPS, there is no senders required either... it's a win/win!
