Man, you've got grit. I'll give you that! Good on you for going for it.

Did you pass smog? You gotta' get some doors on it. Safety first, then baseline mechanics, then cosmetics, then mods. :D

My honest advice... cut your losses and run.

I remember being young and willing to sweat it out, so good on you. However, 25 years down the road into this hobby... my best advice is to dump it, save up for one you can ENJOY right away and tweek/fix/mod as needed. I am not trying to discourage you from continuing but there is still a big gap to jump if you want to enjoy this cruiser for years to come. Just my .02... CARRY ON!

I'd recommend Toyota 77213-60030 for that hose, $37.38 plus shipping from toyotapartsdeal.com. It's not a part where I'd go generic, the Toyota hose will pretty much last forever. You can get it from Amazon, but it's ~$48.

It's just a 2" straight hose. 11-12" long

I called around and apparently no one stocks 2'' hose so Toyota it is.

Any idea on the bolt sizes down there, and can I just put the tank on or does it need to be rinsed out?

Which bolts? The ones that attach the tank straps to the underside of the body?

 thanks! It eventually passed smog but I left that to a mechanic.

Safety is important! I thought the no-doors thing was crazy at first, but then it grew on me. And even when the seat belt gave out, it's so big and slow that it felt like nothing could happen.

I definitely agree. And mechanics before cosmetics is part of why I haven't painted it, but I'm finally giving in due to surface rust.

As for your advice, I can't say I haven't thought about it. I started thinking about it the minute I left Oregon. :bang: But part of me feels like I get to learn so much because theres always something to fix or tweak. As for enjoying it for years to come... I'm hoping it transforms in to an fj45 or 47. Your .02 was spot on! Thank you sir.

Those are the ones.
All six are M10X1.25 with a lock washer and a large flat washer. The two long ones are 40mm long and the four short ones are 25mm long. For reference, Toyota part numbers are 91651-61040 and 91651-61025.

Free at last!

Does anyone know why the idle screw on the carb would default to the A/C idle screw especially when the A/C doesn't work? I even pulled the A/C fuse. Can I completely block off the A/C circuit on the carb (if Im even saying that right)?
