does this carb have a fast idle adjustment ? my cruiser will rev above 2000 with the choke all the way on, From my understanding it should not rev over 1800 ? ...also what should my timing be set at with my setup? It runs good like it is but jus want to make sure i have everything dial in best i can

Arrived!

Carb arrived yesterday, safe and sound. Had 'the talk' with my little boys, you know, the one about air/fuel mixture. Wife was not thrilled with the delightful but subtle scent of gasoline on the kitchen island. Hoping to fire the thing up on Friday, gathering new fuel lines, vacuum lines, PCV, etc before then.

Will I need a spacer like in this photo?

Yes there is a choke idle adjustment. Side of carb facing firewall. Top screw. Rotate out till it's at a point where you like it. To be honest you probably don't even need full choke on these carbs.

Set timing to about 9-11 degrees. Or just about where the BB is just barely visible. If you get pinging under load back off some.

Yes and when you get that spacer you will need to cut the primary throttle rod on the carb to make it fit. I'm okay with you cutting it. When you put the spacer on you will understand.

Carb arrived safe & sound & my Jim C. kit will be here tomorrow....Dave's Desmog Debacle starts this weekend!

Question...I had Trollhole install the high altitude jets...should I keep my HAC or get rid of it?

Should I get an air cleaner like this (post or keep the factory one? Advantages other than looking cooler? I'll plan to eventually get a snorkel so I'll be keeping the factory one.

I'm going to pour through the desmog threads again, but any gotchas/must haves I might need to know about?

I've rebuilt and re-installed the carb on my old slant 6 74 Dodge Dart many years back...I didn't have a manual or anything and don't remember it being that tough/intimidating. All this emissions crap complicates stuff...lol!

Got mine! Can't wait to put it on this weekend!

Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD

Keep the hac if you like. For altitude it might be best. Use the stock air cleaner if you can. Test the wire for the idle solenoid for +12v. Before you hook it up. Make sure the solenoid clicks when you turn the ignition on.

I'm headed to Ohio this weekend to pick up a motor so I should have plenty of time to talk.

You rule man, your desmog wisdom is priceless. If you ever make it to Colorado Springs let me know and I'll buy you some beers. Drive safe!

and i should run with the secondary (one furthest from dizzy) advance diaphragm hooked up. correct?

setting the timing u said the bb should be barely visible .....do u mean it should be barely visible at the top or bottom of the view hole ? I haven't gotten around to checking it yet jus wanna know what exactly i should be lookin for before i do it:)

Got mine a few weeks ago, Finally sourced all the parts (hard fuel line, used accel bracket, gaskets and springs) to convert it back from a weber that was on there when I bought it. What a difference this carb makes, it started right up! I have to double check the vacuum lines etc., The brake booster is to manifold, PCV will go to manifold once I get the correct fitting, carb vacuum line is going to the outside of dizzy vacuum advance . The inner dizzy vacuum was left open and I Plugged vacuum tube on the carb spacer. Does this sound correct? Can I also get away without using an A/C idle up? It seems to run and idle perfect however I have the whole interior/dash out right now so no test drive yet. Am very pleased thanks Marshall.

Sounds good to me. Glad you liked it. You can do away with the AC idle up if you don't want to use it and it runs fine without it. Just don't throw it away as it's a high demand item for my carbs.

How do I get on a waiting list for one of these awesome carbs people are talking about?

PM box is full. Is there any way to hook up a hand throttle to your carbs? The diameter of my friends air cleaner is smaller than the throat of the carb. How do you recommend connecting them?

Installed my carb today on my early 1970 FJ40. Everything went smoothly. I cut the primary throttle rod to clear the PCV connection tube at the insulator. Will have a chance for more test driving tomorrow, but it's not leaking gas like the old carb so that's already a big improvement!

No waiting list. They are in stock and ready to ship in 24hrs now. I'm finally caught up.

You can either source a later style air cleaner or modify the opening of the current air filter. Hand You can source a later cable and weld a mount on the pedal you can do it that way. Any way you do it your going to have to fab something up.

Guess I need to come up with something for this.
