Amazing progress, it is really looking good.

Good motivation for me to use up the couple rolls of Dynamat I have left over on my 80.

You might want to check under the spoiler. When I pulled my roof rack I didn't have any rust, when I pulled the spoiler there was some rust around the bottom mounting holes.

You should use that Dynamat....I downloaded the CateaterLLC sound level meter on my iPhone and it registered 73 decibels at 60 mph. I woull love to know what a un matted 80 would register...but just shutting the doors ..they feel and sound like a luxury car door closing.
I will have to check under my spoiler...I know all about rust from my 55....

Alpine Amp and Landtank seat rail extension

I mounted the Amp under the drivers seat and with the seat all the way back...which is where I need it , the amp is out of sight.
I also spent an evening installing Landtanks seat rail extensions...the extra few inches are a blesssing

Door Speaker Pods

So I installed this great sound system and got everything wrapped up ...but there was a problem...everytime i turned it up my amp would cutoff and go into protection mode? Called Alpine and the first question they asked was ...."What ohm speakers are you running" I had no clue...
The Infinity 6.5 that I'm running are 2 ohm and will not work with the 4 ohm sub...

So I was following RichElliot's door pod thread and the speakers he installed and decided to copy what Rich has done with a few changes.
The CDT woofers are to deep to install in the factory location of the front doors so I'm taking a shot at door pods with a map pocket

I picked up the perfect circle jig and a Craftsmans Plunge rotor...this thing is bad ass...with a digital rpm gauge...and buttons to adjust the speed....the circle jig makes ring making a breeze.

I made them pretty tall in the front to cover the factory speaker hole......all the edges will be rounded and there will be a smooth transition from the speaker to the map pocket. I bent and glued 1/8 inch ply for the curve of the map pocket..The plan is to fiberglass the entire pod cover in vinyl as close to the factory color as i can get ....use some of the carpet from the factory map pocket and install the door light.

Still a work in progress and if they look like crap when I'm done....I'll go to plan B....I have no clue what that is!!!

I have a big surpise coming soon....I shipped my Depo lights to a fellow mudder. He' s installing the HID projector lights ..that many of you have done...pretty excited about them..

The Perfect Circle Jig and Rotor

I watched this video on You Tube about making rings...and along with step by step instructions he reconmended buying a non-slip pad.... and glueing it to both sides of a board....you can cut the rings without the need to nail or clamp the board your cutting down...its the stuff you put under small area rugs so the they don't slip.
Shocking....it worked great...the ring didn't move during the cut.

Hey Lou, the truck is looking great. Looks like you are a fiberglass expert now. What internal volume does your sub enclosure have now?

I remember when we spoke on the phone you mentioned that the sub you were using required very little volume.

I have the plug to make an enclosure that is about a cubit foot. Let me know if you want to borrow it to make the back half of the enclosure out of fiberglass. You could modify the tub after it is formed to what ever volume you need if it is less than 1 ft^3.

Thanks for the offer...the enclosure I made is just about 1 cubic foot..... I had to extend the end a bit..and the sub was still restricted so I ported the front and it seems to be working good...I'll know more in about a week when I get the door speakers finished and can crank up the tunes a bit and see how it sound.. I may take you up on the offer. Here's the latest photo's that I posted in the door speaker pod thread.

As most of you have seen I finished the door speaker pods and I'm very pleased with how they turned out but I was still having issues with the amp going into protection mod and was perplexed about what was causing this. The thought of pulling seats and carpeting to check all the wiring was depressing... so I headed down to a local shop called Car Trendz....It was time for a pro to do this and I was willing to pay big bucks to have the system looked at.. When I arrived the owner wanted to see the system and we started with the sub... The problem was solved in one minute... One of the wire connecters which is metal was touching the foil backing of the sound deadener.... Problem solved and all I can say is Holy #hit this system is unbelievable ..the CDT woofers along with the Alpine sub produce a crisp base the 3.5 Infinity's in the dash make a great Mid and the tweeters are filling in all the high end sound. Zero distortion at a volume that would hurt your ear drums....I'm extremely pleased.

The last six cars I've leased have all had HID lights......my new Lexus CT200 has LED headlights so driving the cruiser at night, even with the Slee harness and the PIAA bulbs, was not rewarding in anyway .... the lights suck in comparison to HID's... We'll that's all going to change here in a few days
I had read all the threads regarding the projector HID conversions and contacted Chef J for his help... after a little negotiation.. more like Jason telling me how much is was going to cost me, I packed up my Depo lights, ordered everything he told me to order and shipped everything to MI....
I was in no rush.... Five weeks later a big box arrived and I have some new Bling for da cruiser... Since I am clueless when it comes to anything that requires wiring and electricity and Chef J believes in perfection these lights came back ...plug and pay...all that's required is to mount the lights and ballast and figure out what plugs into what and turn these suckers on... The only technical thing I know about these is when I switch on the high beams...I'll have four high beam bulbs firing..
I cannot thank Jason....aka Chef J enough for the fine product he put together and can't wait to install them

damn i'd love that HID conversion for mine .. though my high beams with HIR's and slee harness is great but nothing beats the coolness of the standard temp HID color or even the 6k color ones.

He's the only real game that's remotely close to me .... A few newer shops run by young guys with limited knowledge and who don't yet understand customer service.....if your not buying are aren't helping you... This guy was great and it didn't cost me a penny . I'm thinking about having him override my factory alarm system that's non functional and installing a new Viper system with remotes and remote start.

Where did you manage to find the Depo Tail Lights? I have been searching for a set for a while...
Also, where did you get the LED backup light? I have decided that I need more LED's. Well, that plus the fact I have a feeling that these are going to be much brighter.
