Hey! I am in the process of rebuilding my doors since the bottoms are shot and the nice ( ) sponge foam door weather stripping has created a nice supply of moisture to effectively rust both the bottom of the door and the rocker panel as well. The felts that go around the window are crappy and need to be replaced...

Pretty much, everything that is soft on the doors needs to be replaced.

Im looking for generic stuff and locations that you guys have found that works. I dont have the funds to throw OEM stuff at it. Instead of the felts in the window channels, I was thinking of rubber...

Thanks!

don't know if i'd try rubber ont he windows. if you don;t want to go oem, get CCOT stuff, it's cheaper and will get you by till you can afford OEM. Just my opinion. But then why pay for it twice, just do it right the first time. I replaced my old weatherstrip with CCOT's kit. about $60, improvement over the old stuff but I hear OEM is way better.

I used the stuff from Rocky Mountain Cruisers. I liked it. I heard some complaints about the CCOT stuff, don't have any personal knowledge though.

We have used both factory and these aftermarket units and find them very comparable.

We sell them for 49.00 each Canadian and they are moulded as per factory.

Our Local Toyota Parts Girl told me that the Canadian spec cruisers got the cold-climate package. This included (other than the obvious engine tuning) softer weather stripping. I didn't see any mention of 'cold climate' weather stripping at CCOT. Maybe there was also a 'hot climate' weather stripping for trucks that live in the desert??? Who knows.......

I've bought CCOT weather stripping and window chanel/felt. I havn't installed it yet (waiting for paint), but I think anything will be an improvement over the 20-40 year old stuff that's on your truck now.

Get a set of door w/s from a mid 80's toyota van from a self serve junkyard (PnP, PyP, U-Save, etc.) for $10 each. Glue in place. I have a set in my 40 (search the Land Cruiser Tech archives). The OEM quality is so good these w/s still feel new to me and have the correct thickness and the 90 degree turn for the top rear corner.

I used CCOT window felt and it worked just fine. It is still as good as the day I put it in.

I just installed ccot door seals on my 75, I used the supplied applicator, cleaned the surface, not too hard because the paint is new, and installed the strips. working pretty good so far, the precut corners are nice but it is the same weather stripping you can buy at a paint and body shop for at least half price. It's the price you pay for convenience. I hear its a pain in the rear to get the corners right.

very interesting, I'll have to check into that, just gotta ask if the parts # for a 82 fj is the same as a BJ. But even is it is I would not be shocked to see they are both now crossed over to just one part # for both.

And what day did you put them in?

Almost 2 years ago. I used a little white grease in the window frame channels to slip them down into the doors and pressed them into the top of the frames. Very simple to do with the window still in place.

Resurrection.

Has anyone found other options for the weatherstripping for a set of doors off a 72?

Just got done installing all new stuff from Spectre, set me back about $110 but WOW... What a difference. Before hitting a bump made the whole car sound like it was coming off the frame and now just as good as my wife's new Expedition. (If it had a soft top). It was totally worth it.

i run a set of the original soft doors. anyone have info on weatherstripping for those?

outer w/s on the soft doors is still available through toyota..for felts, i used generic stuff from a freightliner...for little window, you're sol.
