Yeah. I definitely want a set and started chatting with Spencer about minor custom edits to accommodate my oddball features.

The 60 guys may find interest with the project I'm currently involved with....

Well, I cut the last of the rust from my truck. The back seat mounts. View attachment 3357141

A little back story... With my three girls, I kept holding off cutting out the rust bc I kept thinking how do I get 3, 3 point seatbelts in the back seat. I didn't just want to patch the panels. For the last year I kept staring at it thinking there has to be a better option.

Looking at all options, I came across a k5 Blazer forum where he had put a 3rd row from a Suburban. The 3 seat belts were built into the seat, Folded and tumbled, easily removable, and everyone has a set sitting in their garage It seems like.

This was the answer I’d been looking for. I picked up a set for $40 from a guy cleaning out a storage unit, 10 min from my house. Even better there are kits, People make to add them to Tahoes and Yukons that didn't come with the third row.

The seats need approx. 50" between the wheel wells. Perfect bc that will remove the rot I needed to rid. After some time with the cut off wheel, I opened up wheel wells, and the floor in front of the gas tank to have the seats tuck in nicely. Opening up the floor over the shocks will make it easy to tie the seat mounts into the frame.

After all the patches I've put in the floor whats a few more.

I began thinking about something similar a few months ago, but hadn’t come up with Suburban seats yet. The look matches well…like an oversized 62 rear seat. What are thinking about doing to tie the seat mounts into the frame?

Looks great!!!
I feel confident the kids are safe and over engineered. The failure point would be what ever oem decided it should be at that point in time. Much safer than 40 yr old lap belts that don’t lock up any more. After I rebuild the wheel wells, I’m gonna figure out how to put GM seats from the same generation in front.

Carrying the kids safely is nice but I’m more excited about the fold and tumble and quick removal.

GM Front seats have belts built in too? I was toying with the Chrysler Sebring convertible front seats because of the same built in belt.

I think they’re wider and will interfere with the e brake. I’m looking at converting to an electric e brake or even a mini truck/4 runner ebrake.

I love the mini truck pull handle design. A bigger fulcrum for more force is on my short list of eventual improvements. Oxymoronic statement, I know.

Put some much needed garage time in and finished up closing up the rear floors. I picked up some Hobart.024 wire and it pulls in oh so nice on the thinner stuff. 0.23 just couldn’t take the heat I was comfortable at to pull in, and I had to run .030 to hot. .024 was almost like soldering. The old roof skin came in handy to make the filler panels in the wheel wells.

A few pounds of Dry Ice and the old sound deadening flaked up in huge pieces. Cleaned the floor with acetone, and then 80 mil sound deadening.

I bought the carpet kit before I took delivery so it was nice to finally get to lay it out after being in storage the last few years.

Update from busy August ….Let’s see, started out the month trying to make the OTM with upstate. Cruiser alternator failed on the way out of town. Ended up converting the alternator over to a GM 10si from a 68 Corvette. It’s rated around 68 amps. I’d like more but it seems to be putting out enough for my needs. The first one I tried failed after a few days so there was late night swap at my brother house on the way to Mardi Crawl.

Along with the alternator I added a low profile Sunflare 144w panel on the roof with a DCtoDC charger. For the first time I’m seeing voltages in the 14’s.

Labor Day weekend I completed 1463 mile road trip. Across Georgia to Greenville, Greenville to Raleigh, Raleigh to Asheville. Jack the 60 did great. 80% back roads catching up with @IcutYourCruiser @SFROMAN @SAH along the way

Attended my first cars and coffee in Durham. I was there as a spectator but it didn’t take long for people to start asking questions, having me open up the roof and have people gathered around. Del and I were able to tell people about ONSC and bring attention to the club.

Trip was a success, just me and the dog and good company along the way. Few small things I need to dial in but nothing urgent. Felt good to get some seat time.

I had heard you visited from a local business, wanting ONSC to show up at his car show. he sent me a picture of your truck :-)

Yep. I forgot about that, Picked up some groceries and was parked on the side of the new Loves in Pittsboro in the shade, feeding the dog, having a tailgate sandwich. Can’t remember his name but nice guy with a local brewery in Pittsboro. He drove by and waved and came back by to grab a picture. Ended up hanging out chatting for a bit and I was able to tell home about ONSC.

Good to have you back!

Splurged on the D pillar vents from Trail Tailor. Machined from 6160. They are a piece of art!

I have the idea to dump my exhaust from my diesel heater through them…. Something similar like the marine guys do, but was trying to make it more stealth without having to drill another hole in the pillar.

Two weeks later after reinstalling, I wish I would have sent the box off two years ago. I sent 83 box to Red Head. No more chasing the 60 on the road trying to keep it between the lines. My sector shaft was so pitted it wouldn’t seal. They had a sector shaft in stock and were able to rebuild, as well as a drill and tap for future hydro assist.

Red Head is a pretty cool company. They do rebuilds and stock a ton of sector steering stuff.
