Some might know that this has been on my wants for some time. Actually I started on this about 3 years ago and it's finally coming to fruition.

I ended up buying a 1997 CE with a blown engine out of MD last year. I was then lucky enough to get a working motor out of another cruiser for very short money.

So this build starts my going through the engine I got prior to installing the turbo and swapping it into the 97 CE

So today I stripped down the engine and prepped it for going to the machinist. I'm lucky enough to have found a 3 generation gentleman who has been building race engines his whole life and has quite a few patents to his credit as well.

So right now it's just getting the engine in shape for the build. I posted before about doing a bare minimum refresh on the engine but have decided to do a more complete rebuild on the engine.

Here is a few pics of what I started with

God look at that rust!!

Rick--do you need a clean crankshaft pulley--no rust etc. Let me know and I'll send it out to ya.

Go TRUBO! :D

While I was removing the lower oil pan I found some shards of plastic lodged in them and thought it looked like the same material used on the chain slipper and tensioner.

Here is a couple of pics of the slipper, you can see some grooves warn in and the material is beginning to crack in places
