Next level

A week at SAS on trails is a little less daunting if these seats are as good as the price tag.

I have the arms and legs of a 7' skinny man, yet the torso of a twelve year old Dutch girl. The driving position of the 40 does not fit my gangly scrawny ass well. 😆

I'm hoping that I can adjust the front edge up enough that it takes some pressure off my tailbone, which currently forces me to lean forward, which eventually makes me want to cut my spine out.

Need some input.

I'm not overly fond of the speaker wires hanging in space. It's a little ghetto.

I think this is the cleanest position for a loom to go between the tub and the door. Both sides there's nothing structural there, no hinges. Nothing really, just dead space.

I'm pretty sure I'm a mile from the window track in the door, but I need to investigate that yet.

I like that. I have just a small rubber hose covering the part of the speaker wire that’s exposed when the door is open.

The 40 is in the garage. It's dark in there. I'm lazy, laying on the couch watching Clarkson's Farm and not pulling it back out until tomorrow.

I was confused. I thought I was ordering seats, turns out I ordered a driver's side, and passenger side towels. I'm assuming these are actually for drying the tears that well up knowing you've just blown four grand on seats going into a 47 year old Toyota....

I didn't take enough pictures.
The good news is the Corbeau seat brackets work. The bad news is you have to punch four new holes in the bracket. The spacing front to back is pretty much spot on. Side to side the Scheel·mann seat tracks are wider. I used zee big German robot to make a drilling jig to mount das German seats in the Japanese vehicle. I poked a couple of 8mm holes in the drilling jig so I could use the Corbeau mounting holes to align the jig. Worked sweet.

First impressions:
-Definitely an upgrade.
-They are more comfortable than the Corbeau seats. (They f-ing better be....)
-The seat bolsters are kinda hard and pointy when getting in and out.
-Too many adjustments. It'll take a minute to get that sorted.
-Quality is quite nice of the material and the craftsmanship.
-The tilting headrests are friggin' sweet.

They didn't quite get me what I'm looking for. Better. Just not quite perfect. I need the front of both seat to be higher, so some sort of wedge needs to be made. My buddy Chris thinks the front needs to come up about half an inch on the passenger side. The back can be at zero. The driver side, I think the front needs to come up about ¾", and about ¼" in the back.

I'm thinking I'll do some math and make wedges from a chunk of aluminum. Drill and tap the wedges. Bolt the wedges to the seat sliders. Bolt the seats into the vehicle. I thought about just using spacers, but I might be too much of an angle. I think front to back, the mounting holes are 340mm apart. If I do 19 mm of rise, that's 3.2º. Not sure I can just put longer fasteners in and wallow out the holes a twinge front to back and get anything to remotely line up. As is, the holes are only .5mm larger than the OD of the fastener threads. So everything fits snuggly.

I'll take installed pictures tomorrow when I'm not a lazy piece of crap. 😆

I want to see pics of the new seats too!!

Karl, can you just put some spacers in to test drive raising them? Before making a nice piece of aluminum and then finding out you want more, or less???
Just a thought to test the angle.

That's probably smarter. I'll do something out of plywood to figure it out.

I think the passenger side, just raising the front, that can be done with just a spacer. Nothing complicated.

Driver's side though, I think that might require a more stout solution.

My rig is a bit of a mess. I'd make excuses, but nobody cares. 😆

I haven't hooked up the heated seats yet. I need to connect them, and figure out what is going on with the switch they supply. I think there's an extra ground in the wiring for the switch illumination that won't be needed. Should just be a hot in, and two switched hots going out for high and low.

I've got so fricking many little projects I need to button up. I don't think any of them would take a day to do, but there's a month of days needed. 😡🙄😐😔

The small stuff is always what adds up lol

They look awesome! Let me know how they perform on some longer days.

I hear you both on the small stuff!!

I drove about 150 miles yesterday running around. Even not being optimal, they are still more comfortable for me. You'll have to give them a sit next weekend.

I should be test driving mine tomorrow or Thurs. At least I will have a week to shake it down before the meet up....

Met up with some local Landcruiser dorks yesterday morning for breakfast and yeah talking.

Apparently here in Minnesota we're only allowed to own green ones. 😆

The R2.8 is pretty close in weight to a 2F.
What isn't close in weight is the massive radiator, intercooler, air compressor, large bumper, and lights.

Per @fjdiesel I ordered a another leaf for the front from Cruiser Outfitters. Should be here Monday. Matt said he got his installed in four hours. I'm sure I can F it up in 8. 😆

Got the heated seats hooked up and operational from the console switch panel. I need to ground out the illumination side of the switch so that functions and lights up, but I ran out of connectors. I also need to run a wire back to the console for general switch illumination, and make a jumper that goes to all of the switches for that.

I don't hate wiring, but I'm always out of something. And that drives me crazy

@Drcrane that was my sons collection of cruisers. lol. @Hogan gave him the orange one yesterday to add to the collection.

@sogncab 2 hours total. Took 1 hour per side. And Wes helped, so you will probably get it done quicker. lol.

Ah, I might try and bite that one off one evening after work then. Worst case I can just drive the shop truck home.
