Did you secure the 2x12's to the tub?
No. I kind of press fit the contraption in with the mat material. Wheeled the whole time with it in there and it was fine. Had a yeti hard cooler on top most of the time and my tools/spares underneath.
I was running a family style bikini top.

Nice. I would love to make it to SAS one year. This year is out so hopefully next.

Any suggestions on rear cargo storage?

Perhaps a platform bolted to existing holes on the wheel wells/seats or roll bar mounts. I have a similar setup on my 80 and I've bolted a fridge slide to that with good results.

I'd prefer to not drill any holes in the floor pan so storage drawers aren't really an option.

The fuel cans will not live in side. Just placed them there temporarily.

I would love a 4Plus rear bumper with carrier for them but that's not in the budget right now. Maybe a spare tire mount for one of them for a low cost alternative.View attachment 3943331
I saved some photos on my work computer of a 40 that had a cool rear cargo cover utilizing the top of the tub where the hard top rests. This 40 didnt have a top, but you could keep the top on and still build a platform that rests on the hard top lip inside and secures with the hard top bolts. It would give more height for keeping fridge down low and lighter bulkier stuff could go up on platform. I’ll post the photos from work tomorrow.

When youre in a situation where you need more cargo room, I assume you’ll remove the jumpseats?

I did a scrap piece of plywood secured across the jump seats. Old sleeping bag for the wolf dogs Perry 150# Penny 90#. We did the 1000 mile trip to Az and back several times. All my tools and stuff were under the dog platform or in the passenger zone of the front seat/floor board.

Thanks @EWheeler
Yeah, no need to have the jump seats in there with a platform of some sorts.
Not exactly what you are thinking, but kind of neat. You could still do something similar with the hard top on.
