I have just purchased and brought back from Manitoba into BC my new to me 1990 HZJ77. Right now I haven't any pictures with me but can post some soon. It has a great maintainance record and is completely rust free. Driving back from Manitoba has made me realize that as much as I love the 1HZ on this platform there are a few things I'd like to do.

Turbo - this is a must. Any recommendation? I am planning on the Denco but have considered the Safari. If there is anyone with experience with both or either of these I'd be interested in hearing what you think. I really need something for the hills and passing on the highway.

Intercooler - I am not sure. I would like the power but not sure how much a turbo alone will give me. If I can get what I want out of the turbo alone I may just save the cash and put it towards something else.

Suspension - From what I have heard Dobinsons is what you want to do if you're only gonna do it once. What I have not done however is extensive research on a dealer nearby. It almost looks like I have to order them from Australia. Question I have is how much lift do I need if I want to run 31's and how much for 33's. I suppose 3" if I want 33's but this is my first 70 series so I am not completely sure.

Platform - I have it designed in my head, I've always wanted to be able to sleep in my ride.

I will update as I can to perhaps show progress and of course show pictures. So far I am in love with my new ride and wuld have t note that my old HJ61 doesn't have anything on the HZJ77.

Sounds intersting but will need pics :D

do a search and you will find your answers ...
congrats on buying one of the most sought after of the 70 series breed.

Finally! You know fully understand where I am sitting.
In all honesty whatever 3 inch you put in its going to make a world of difference. I am quite happy with my Zeal lift. I would have gone Emu just for ease of simplicity. Though if I had nothing but money I would go Dob.
I'm going to be looking at building drawers when I get back from school.

I am pumped for you!

tell me how you do fuel economy wise as well.
I managed in the tens for my trip down to victoria.
10.22L/100km being the best and 10.85L/100km at worst
I follow the speed limit on the highway.

some pictures from driving it home after purchase. So far it's great driving and the last time I measured fuel consuption I got 10.33L per 100Km

Very nice ,
A new set of leaf springs and your set

That's great fuel comsuption ,you guys seem to get A bit better fuel Eco than a few mates here in Aus with 75s,79s

Yes it is a Japanese spec. I love it but the I think if I had the choice I would choose white, mostly so it couldn't pass for a prado to an untrained eye.

This week I will call for the Denco Turbo Kit

I have a question about turbo. What else should I consider doing to make sure it works out okay. I have 2.5" exhaust and was hoping to stick with that for the time being before going up to 3". What about cooling system? how well does stock cooling system perform with a turbo? the rad that is in there has been taken in and all cleaned out. Nonetheless, it is still stock and when I asked the PO it is unknown how many cores it has so I am guessing 3.

cooling is not an issue with a turbo ...
unless you go nuts playing with the fuel screw.

and 2.5" will do you just fine unless you are trying to create a race truck with it.

Thanks for the input Wayne. Really what I want out of it to be able to pass on the highway and do a little better on hills. Off-road, even though I have not had the chance to try it with this one yet I feel is capable enough for me. What I am used to is my 12HT and if the 1HZ had that top end then that would be all I'm looking for.

have tons of grunt for off road while still NA but the turbo makes a world of difference on the hills (and passing?).
keep the boost around 12 to 14 PSI max and you don't "need" an intercooler, once over 14 psi then the heat generated by the turbo affects the air volumm.

remember, unless your foot is into it or climbing the Coqu you will seldom see over 8 psi.

Go 3 inch with the denco. I hear it makes a world of difference.
Have you decided on your gauges? Wayne has a sweet gauge plate that I can't wait to fill on my truck.
Its going to look sweet with a lift and 33s.

Congrats & welcome to Club77 :p

It's kinda weird keeping tabs on trucks and getting to know the new owners as they pass hands.

lol, i think you guys are the uber elite cool guys with your hz77's in club77 canada....and i want in! lol! hmm, i'd doubt there's more than 30 77's total across the country, not cheap either though.
