I'm new to the 70 series and first time posting so please bear with me.
I have 93 HZJ77 with a 1HZ engine. Unfortunately, I left it sitting for a while as I was out of town and just dealing with life. No surprise, the batteries were dead when I tried to start it. I read different methods on how to jump the 2 battery 24v system.
I don't have 2 jump packs so I thought maybe using two vehicles, one for each battery might do the trick. So I asked my neighbor for help as I only have my one other vehicle available.

Long story short, we couldn't get it to run. I also think at one point he hooked up the jumper cables backwards and there were some sparks and some smoking. I thought no damage was done as I ran to unhook it right away, but now im not so sure. A buddy also just lent me his battery charger and I charged up both batteries independently, but still no lights or nothing when I try to fire it up. Completely dead.
Is there a main fuse that could have blown when we tried to jump it? Where are the fuses even located? I haven't had a chance to look properly as I was out of town again and just got back. Any help is appreciated!

Assuming you connected the jump leads directly to the battery, the wiring should be completely unaffected. The battery might be broken though. Have you verified that you get at least 12v from both batteries? If you connected one jump lead to the positive battery terminal and the other to earth you might also have broken a ground lead. If they're weak enough to burn before a jump lead or a battery you should probably replace all high current wires.

check all the wiring from the batteries, + and -. if totally dead that's probably where your problem is. Check all your fuses, big and small. not sure where all the fuses are on your truck, but one set of fuses I believe is in the foot well drivers side on the side under the dash. Some of the wires on the + side coming off of the batteries are also a type of fuse, proper term escapes me right now.

"Fusible Links"

I never had battery issues in my 1993 HZJ77 until I stopped driving it regularly. Now I very seldom drive it and ended up having to replace the batteries. Once I replaced the batteries, it starts up every time. You just need to drive it more often.

Fusible link is connected to the positive battery terminal closest to the firewall. Google what it looks like online and once you see a picture of one, you can't miss it once you look.

Yep - hopefully the fusible links did their job and you can replace and move on.

It will look something like this: Builds - HZJ75 Troopy - campin' roadtrippin' wheelin' build - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/hzj75-troopy-campin-roadtrippin-wheelin-build.1288426/page-4#post-14566374

There are a number of variations but they are all pretty similar. The one ring terminal on the end connects to the battery. Then there will be a plug connected to the vehicle harness. The other ring(s) go into a black junction box like this: NOS Genuine YAZAKI OEM Japan Spec. Junction Block / Box M5 & M6 TWIN / DOUBLE Terminals / Studs Fusible Link / Links Ring Terminals Mounting Location ( FJ62 BJ70 BJ75 HZJ75 LJ70 PZJ73 KZJ70 - VintageTEqParts.com - https://vintageteqparts.com/products/nos-genuine-yazaki-oem-japan-spec-junction-block-box-single-terminal-stud-fusible-link-links-ring-terminals-mounting-location-fj62-bj70-bj75-hzj75-lj70-pzj73-kzj70-copy?_pos=9&_sid=4eccbc6d3&_ss=r

Sometimes the previous owner, in a shocking act of automotive brutality, will chop it off and connect the harness directly to the battery, as in my case. Hopefully not in yours as they serve a vital protective role.
