Started cutting on the driver side .. worse ? Better ? Not sure ... pretty similar in the end ...

Metalwork is enough on the passenger side for what I intend to do with that truck . Should be plenty solid and nice to see from 30ft - 30mph .

Driver side look like that :

Inner fender is cleaner around the wheel well but need more attention in the rear section .. the quarter panel lower section is also gone but I already knew that so I mirrored the parts I made on the passenger side and its already almost covered. Here is my worst concern :

The other side wasnt that bad ... so I will have to figure out what to do there . Found a few inspiring builds with that section rusted too that were fixed nicely so , again , more to come :)

Been busy ... found a better frame ... and will try to make it near perfect . It has to be in order to pass the Quebec inspection ...

There was a few rust holes ... but nothing too bad ... will use some clean parts of the old frame to fix it and im having a few plates on the bender to fix other areas .

nice write up, i eventually sold my 60 on my display pic and got a 80 series. Then got a close friend who sold me another 1983 60 series (this year) hahahha in the end i got another 60 series which needs tlc and a whole lot of panel repairs, especially on the roof. these posts motivate me now to buy a welder for panel repairs. planning on a silver 60 retro modern theme 60. will post some pics on my mods soon

Will for sure take a look at your build :)

Dont have much time to work on mine these days ... but will update with progress soon :)

Finally got a bit of time to put on the frame ... replaced the shock tube and the inner frame rails . Definetly not OEM but better than rust I guess 😅

Should be able to prime and paint next weekend I hope ... Also buffing and painting the rear leaf springs to reassemble with grease between them ... might also recurve the rear ones a little to get a bit of height. There was 9 leaf in the back , look like a bit too much I think . Might just use the oem pack 🤷‍♂️.

Anyway still have the added leaf springs in stock in case its too soft .

There ... found the pictures of the leaf springs pack when I bought it.

They definetly have been worked on , but I dont think they are aftermarket.

Any opinions on this ?

More work on the frame today , all the welds are done , crossmembers are in place but the rear still need some work.

Should paint it soon !! Cant wait to put the axles back under it. I do have a big order to place before that tho ..... tie rods , leaf springs bushings and extended shacles (or stock lenght not sure yet 🤷‍♂️)

Leaf springs too need paint and maybe a bit of re-curving ....

Wet blasted the frame , found a few morr little spot to patch.

tomorrow , I will clean the leaf packs and paint the springs. I recieved the new shackles and pins with new bushings too!!

All the tie rods will also be replaced . Not missing much to install the body on it . After that the bodywork wil be easier to complete and I will also be able to move the whole thing easily compared to now....

More to come 🙃😛

Water blasted the axles , cleaned the leaf packs and started to put it together 😀

Still missing the rear U bolts , should receive them tomorrow. Cant wait to roll it elsewhere and get my driveway back again ....

Noticed a loose in the front wheels when I shake it left to right . Will have to look it up. But before that , motor and transmission are going on the frame so I will be able to clean the engine and replace components from the blown one to the good one .

So , its starting to look like a truck 😅

Changed the injection pump for the one I had on the original motor with the intake that goes with it.
Messenger_creation_ad8e9ce8-0ecb-4a94-831b-17836de3e00c.jpg

Hooked everything , changed the oil pan also with the one on the other motor , put oil in it , bleeded fuel system and it fired right up !!

Now I will finish the brake and fuel lines and put the cab back on the frame .

My front shocks dont fit tho... I need something longer ... what do you use with a 2-3in lift? Cant seem to find anything as a direct number for a 23...24in shock 🤷‍♂️

Will try to add pictures 😃

Cabin is back on the frame !! The rest of the bodywork will be done on the whole truck.

This side is getting closer to finish And sit as it were but look much better with doors and fender 😃

Messenger_creation_A1B240E4-EBB6-4A5A-B8F3-9DF4F8B514E8.jpg

Driver side coming along ... should be ready for primer and sealer soon !
Messenger_creation_802DC28C-0AD7-4511-9B50-A5EE0420D2AA.jpg

Well things go as they go ... welded a lot of small patches and made a few cardboard models for whats left to cut ... but knowing how it is... rust never sleep....

Found a few more places to repair ... but I decided to take a break from bodywork and to attack the evil center tap for the headlights . Succesfully went trouh !! Everything is working. I could drive the truck. In fact I did a test drive and everything is fine !! Need to bleed the brakes a little more tho , there is still a bit of air in the system . Installed OME steering damper too...

Found 12 oem wheels fo free !!! Im gonna make 5 wides ones for the truck with them .

Anyway enough writing ... here are the pictures

Hav'nt updated in a while ... had a few setbacks and success , but the truck is up and running. Its my daily driver since 1 month 👌.

Had a blocked injector .... belt keep coming loose ... and fuel pickup rusted out ... after that unvented fuel cap...

Few noise bugging me ... but it run fine 🫡

that was from the first real drive around , was very exited ! But it was not perfect .. had to repair all of the above 😅

fitted new tires and got the glow plugs doing their job. Also found a set of nice bumpers that will be changed in a few for a swing out in the rear and a winch bumper in front. But for now im just happy to have it runing.

Great progress!!! What is your wet blasting set up? Also what do you use to crease/ bend edges on panels?

You mean like wheel wells edges ? Might seem unreal but its 90% flat pan hammer and a bit of shrinker stretcher tools that I got from eastwood.

Wet blasting is a cheap attachement I got on amazon for like 50$, worked very well ! its not very fast... but 6 sand bags for the whole frame wasn't bad at all so im glad I bougt it

It looks unbelievably cold!
