Got started on the rear end last night.. Throwing in some 4:88's..

So last weekend i got through the front end rebuild/regeared and just left the front drive line off.

Friday night i pulled down the rear end so i could do the gears, spent some time Saturday setting up the gears and then dropped them in this morning while the girls were asleep.. here are a few pictures..

I put the ring gear and the new bearings in the oven, let them soak ~400 for 20 minutes so i wouldn't have to press them on.

Side note, I was so excitedto go for a test drive this morning after getting the third in i drove off with out putting the rear axle shafts back in.. realized it about a mile from home in a parking lot.

So regear is complete and driving smooth?

Just a few hiccups.. like driving off and leaving the rear shafts on the bench in the shop and pressing my new pinion bearing on my old pinion.. there was some gracefully recoveries from both..

Now i just to get my new steps in..

So after i popped the one flare i thought the rest should go..

I did feel like welding up the holes so i just used some fiber glass on the inside of the body and filled the front side with Marglass, gave it a quick sand and shot it with some raptor liner that i had tinted to match the gray interior.

I had to take the sliders off to line everything i wanted to, they are going to be replaced with some ARB steps.. a little friendlier for around tow use and the look sweet.

Prior to doing the liner I scored a ARB rack that you see in the pictures...

Got any tips for spraying that Raptor liner? IIRC recommended PSI is around 40-70. What did you use? Happy with the texture? I guess you bought it from a dealer and not online since you got it tinted? I've done searches, just thought yours looked good, wanted your thoughts.

So I got mine online and took it to the paint store to be tinted, shot it about 45 lbs I think, and I do like the texture..

Pulled the rear bumper, getting ready for the next design.. So some one but this one! It is now taking up room..

Also some other news, got a p0401 code the other day so I swapped the egr regulator, code gone.

Update on the gears- the truck feels solid with the newly rebuilt front end and new tie rod ends, and the gears really woke the truck up and made it even funeral to drive.
I put the rack on today as well as the third row in, I get to take my scout group camping this week end, a quick trip to southern Utah down over elephant hill..
Excited to try out the new gears, that I been getting broken in for the past few weeks( just rolled my first 500 miles on them) just in time for the trip this week end..

It's been a bit, getting ready to head out for some wheelin' and camping this weekend.

Picked up a foxwing awning to keep the elements at bay a bit..
