I thought I would share a couple shots of my Mudflap Brackets I just had powder coated. I used some metric stainless steel bolts & washers to mount them up. I believe these brackets were off of a 77 or 78 FJ45 LPB. They mount directly to the cross member on the underside of the bed just behind the rear tire on my 65 LPB. Not sure how they mounted on the later 45's. ENJOY...

cuteo100, Thank you. Someone with more experience in this may want to comment. I was told by a good friend who gave them to me, that they were from a late 70's FJ45. Maybe "Bear" would know for sure...

Could you post a pic from below showing where they are attached?

X2 I have a trailer made from the back half of a early seventies Toyota pickup. It has some brackets for mud flaps. would interested in seeing I could use them on my FJ45LP-B.

Call out to @Bear for anymore info

kunzma, the 45 is about 45 minutes from me. I will get you some photos of how they are mounted when it is home. There is a cross brace on the bed just behind the tire. You need to drill two holes for each Mudflap bracket. It fits perfect.

Only factory info I have ever gleaned on mudflaps was for the earlier vehicles:

Gifu serrated rubber flaps apparently came in two sizes. A version(53881-92000, 53883-92000, 53884-92000) was available for the FRONT of the 40 series with only a metal retainer bar "plate" (53882-92000). On the 45wagon the rubber flap(66241-92000, 66241-92310) uses a bracket "plate" (66242-92000, 66242-92300) along with a rear clamp "retainer plate' (66243-92000).

The parts diagrams are too small to see if the 45 wagon "plate" is the same as the one's that CPPilot used.

I cannot find a reference for the pickup bed rear flap, although there are some lightly drawn references when illustrating the rear license plate bracket/stay on the later model.

I should have kept more photos of this stuff, but............. So, all I have to really share is a photo I pilfered from someone years ago. If it's your photo, my apologies for not citing you:

The possibility exists that Cp's brackets may have come from a different vehicle or a different time period IF matching mounting holes don't exist on the bed crossmember that would align them to the tire position. Could these brackets come from a Stout or Hilux from the sixties thru the eighties, or even a non-Toyota vehicle? Like some of you, I have a number of the various painted South American "Teq" rubber flaps I want to mount, but my guess is that these were a one-size-fits-all local product, not from Toyota Japan.

With the intended uses for a worldwide pickup truck, it is odd that Toyota would not have prominently offered various brackets and rubber flaps. But they may have simply decided to leave that to the local producers.

Could JohnnyC shed some light here?

Bear, Thanks for sharing that information. My 65 and 66 did not have any provisions to mount the bracket but I wanted to use them. Maybe these are actually from one of the early Toyoyta Hilux trucks. I did look at a few parts manuals with the 79 to 81 Hilux trucks but I could not verify buy looking at the copies I had.

These do make a very nice option to hang the many versions of flaps that are out there.

Hey JP, that would be great. I would actually like to know what they are off of. I would like find another set and this would help.

Thanks

Mark

Only bumping this as I’m thinking about flaps on my 45 SWB. Have the flaps from cityracer. Mounts need some thought as there’s a lot of interference issues - e.g, tailpipe. Not excited to drill holes in the frame. These brackets look like a possibility. But the cross braces on the SWB beds are top hat sections so there’s no access to bolt something to them unless the bolts go all the way through (~2”). I’m putting the last cross braces in on my bed rebuild so I could put in some weldnuts but I’d need the brackets for templating.
