After work, decided to take seats back out and try some of that preserving your patina witchcraft.

Can see difference in the test area (yeah, it is a big test area)

Decided to do the entire interior - didn't get to the rubber components yet. Got the windows inside and out cleaned.

One box opened…

The other maybe tomorrow- family that flew into town start leaving Sunday am and I can working odds and end

I might follow some of the advice on saving your patina on the newly recovered paint on inside

Small tech - small progress

Tuffy console? That mounting plate looks vaguely familiar.

Second box is opened. Started to get my new center console installed. The one that came with it has cup holders that are not usable. Well one is, the one closest to driver is in the way of the shifter.

With the 1979+ you need a special bracket - that was the first box opened and picture off a few days ago.

The second one goes here with the nut in the whole... Let me see if I got a few pics... The bracket is upside down as the nut goes in the hole that is there and the screw go into existing one. Easy button.

Not quite. The Tuffy console does not have a hole that lines up with that location from the picture above. I cut the lid shipping box, used one of the brackets not used (for pre 1979) and make the rear bolt holes in the cardboard - screw it in, located the hole front hole.

Tomorrow most likely will center/match the template inside the console and drill the hole and then should go in just fine. (the cardboard in image below is covering the two rear holes that are there already)

Been helping out a friend with a knuckle job. Naturally mess AF last few days. Assembly started toward the end of the day.

With Yellr a few things... Tuffy.... it sits forward and would interfere with shifter. and with the rear heater pipes, can't move back a lot. Moved it about 1-1/4 inch back - the shifter clears - not a lot but does clear. I like the heigh of it. Pretty sure I will get use to the shifter being close to the unit in 2/4 gear.

And with the silent treatment from Yellr = I keep popping the 5A fuse (where I have that bluetooth radio hooked too).

Started to trace the wire - used power probe to test original wire after unpluging the BT receiver. No issues. Look at the wires that came with the unit (I just put a connecter on it so it would power off the original radio connector.

Opps - man that thing fused together. Explains why popping fuses like pez candy.

Prime day had a BT receiver for 13 bucks - so I put some $$ on that flyer... Not the long term solution I want, yet if 13 gets some tunes for the long drive to Colorado in 24 days, great. (worst case find a BT speaker and call it good).

I pulled the shifter, put the short section in a vise and straightened out the kink the shifter to give myself more room at the Tuffy console. Works great and no more hitting my hand on the console. Before pulling the shifter I dropped it into 2nd and held up a piece of cardboard along the side and traced out the current angle of the shifter and measured back where I wanted it to finish up and marked it on the cardboard. Helped when I would bend the shifter, hold the cardboard against it to see how close it was to the angle I wanted, then repeated until it was where I wanted it. It was easier than bending it, putting it back in the truck and testing it, rebending.

Lots of small chicken little things.

Slowly starting to put stuff back in. I had the brackets powder coated a long time ago when I was doing other interior bits too (IE Pocket door and ashtray). Put them back in visor and installed.

Also - cleaned the special bolts that are 14 mm head and 3/8 for US Spec seat bolts. They were rusted. Put a clear coat on hoping that keeps them clean up. Putting roll bars in too.

Back to the bolts - Here is what it was like when putting roll bars in. (new oem bolts and then those)...

I got some strange electrical issues. Earlier in the week, was picking up some food and came back to rig and noticed brake lights are on. I push brake pedal with hands and lights went out. We farckle.
IMG_3095.jpg

So I decided to wire up that inexpensive bluetooth radio to see if I can get some sounds. Get connector on - plug it. Nothing... Nothing on my phone to connect to. Farckle. Yesterday noticed I only have one brake light - and the side reflector on passenger side is out too. One could say light bulb - but both going out exactly the same time??? not so sure - the side was working 5 days ago. That will take some time to trace what is what - will check what if any fuses are blown

So want to keep going with these things and helping replace some side windows in another cruiser. Plan on putting some miles driving around and just making sure all is ready for 2 week.

The “brake light on” thing happened to me recently in Paul (on Paul?). Turned out the brake pedal switch was loose.

As for the bulbs on one side going out at the same time, you did do a floppy on that side so maybe it isn’t out of the question?

Correct - I made Yellr do the Triple Lindy

On that side -

Both were working the day before I hooked the new BT up. Not saying that they are related - circuits are different - Going to do some more investigation between now and launch date.

Thanks about the brake switch - will look at that. Would be sweet if that simple.

I vote corrosion in bulb holder or bad ground. Then again light bulbs aren't made as good as they were - filament too thin and poor quality for the metal composition and I doubt they use a getter any more to take out the oxygen.
