Today -

Took to the wire wheel - there be yellow under some of that rust - easier to see the color is the upper roll bar footprint.

More cleaning all around - used Rust Converter inside the tub and then on roll bars.

I am going to put more cologne on this skunk to kick the can to winter for a bigger project.

Before SAS - going to use the step Ian is sending as a guide to straight it out as best I can - will go to CO with some bumps - and that is ok.

I want to take the time and think it though - will probably throw a fresh coat of black in the back this weekend - maybe... I have about three things I would like to do - all are independent of this.

- “will probably throw a fresh coat of black in the back this weekend - maybe”... 😳

Fresh “Yellow” glistening on the fender wells, Corn Husker COEDS hanging on the roll bar, a boner ad jingle wafting over the OE Yota speaker and you sporting a Koozie and a Kodak grin….Fade to black.

Today is Hot AF. Windy AF too -

So what do I do

I work on the 40 - in the garage so out of the wind. Decided to start in on the interior rear more.

Here is a pre shot on the DS.

and passenger side....

So the process began - I cycled working and taking breaks - Finally go caught up on most of the MUD threads while cooling off. Been 3+ weeks -oops.

I am beat - but here are the results so far...
IMG_2800.jpg

The sill area and floor is pure gorilla snot. Duck me! I don't mind elbow grease but bed liner is miserable in the heat.
Other side so far...

and now time to cool off and solve time travel or something easy tonight.

Cheers all!

I don’t want to blast my opinion on someone else’s thread unsolicited- so I will post here.

With respect to engine. I am glad I built the 2f and with the performance pistons etc. and yet… If I had to do it all over with the engine, I would have done a 1FE 1FZ-FE.

That, to me, would have been the engine to come with 40’s and what I would have done differently had I been able to talk to my older self. Still sh!tty gas mileage. But that is not why I drive Cruisers.

If I wanted real modern, a 2015 manual Taco fitted into YELLR would fit the bill too.

The con with upgrade is the 2f has forced me to slow down and enjoy then slower pace of things, like I said before- no need to stop and smell the roses when you just go at a sniffing speed.

I edited my engine designation....

Was just having a conversation last week about my driving habits and how it differs from the 40 to the 100. When in the 40 I do as a 40 driver should do, slooooowwww with a big ole grin on my face :grinpimp:

Looks awesome…!!! 👍🏻 🍻 🥇 :bounce::popcorn::cool:

What’s next? Preservation of the new Patina? Paint? Tinted Raptor?

Your post up top ref: “1FE” zat = 1FZ? If so, I’ve been looking at that option with more than passing curiosity. It looks the part.

Yeah 1FZ, I was trying to quickly post before I helped out with some sliders going on (not on my rig )

Totally looks the part - I see you can order the block from Uncle Toyota new - Short block... I think.

I love my engine now - but if it conked out, or something else, I would not be upset.

1FE?
Elaborate please?🙏🏼

When I drive my 40, I am a part of the scenery. When I drive my tundra, I view the scenery.

I'm not real sure - I need to just get a few things done for SAS in 4 weeks. Going to help out with some of the rigs that need more TLC that Yellr to get them going - Was up until 12:30 am Friday working on Rus's brakes on his HZ73.

For me, I think will mainly straight out some of the metal from the road rash I gave Yellr - and then I think take it slow to figure it out. I have some rust, rear sill is shot - so I am thinking about more body type work over the winter and give me time to think it though vs react. I do like the faded yellow that I recovered, no doubt.

Good copy. I was curious what your mid/long term plans were. I know you’re under the gun for SAS. I Almost feel bad for the subliminal suggestion. Almost

High tides for whichever COA you choose.

Have a fun 4th all! Someone out there, a Happy Birthday

Tech moment…
YELLR got some care packages earlier and yesterday. Will address these boxes before SAS.

don't do anything stupid, but if you do don't get caught. HBD to you . Most importantly keep your fingers attached to your hand.

One box opened…

The other maybe tomorrow- family that flew into town start leaving Sunday am and I can working odds and end

I might follow some of the advice on saving your patina on the newly recovered paint on inside

Small tech - small progress
