Thanks man, much appreciated ! My dad's a Kool guy, was a top notch mechanic to boot, hell when I was young in his shop I remember all the cool hotrods were at my dad's shop, the Hemi's,cuda's, 6 pack's, split windows, etc, you name it. I get emotional watching Barrett-Jackson I rode in all those Kool cars.

This is my dad two years ago at 72 !!!

Holy cow Pete. Just read through your build. Has to be one of my favorite ones I've seen. I don't even have words to express how impressed I am with your fab and paint skills. Just incredible. Jimmy

Thanks Jimmy, means a lot to me to hear this, god knows I almost gave up on it last year, I made a few too many screw ups and got very frustrated for a bit, but thanks to amazing stuff here on mud makes thing a lot better, so many great threads on here and people too. Man I love land cruiser's, seem's to put a lot of people on common ground.

I have a question for you ? Looking to make some shock hoops soon, how did you deal with the steering box on your sons rig ??

and can I use this pic in my shop, I just love it.

@mcguirejohnson is copied. He will need to weigh in as I was just a spectator:). And absolutely you can use that picture

hear ya on the muscle cars pete. my journey into this world of mechanized mayhem was started in the late '60's early '70's watching muscle of all the big 3 with loping idle roll thru the a+w in oshawa. unfortunately, i couldn't join in til '73 when i turned 16, then it was on with a vengeance, '69 chevyvan 90, built 327,built t/h350, dropped 2" front n back n 3.73 with posi. dad wasn't a gearhead but he supported the mechanical shenanigans my brother n i got into, so that was cool

It’s been a while since I made those shock hoops, but I think I just spaced and angled the centerline towards the tire so that the box would still be removable

Funny thing, I was born in ONT, Downsview and Wilson, a bit younger than you, my folks brought me back east to start my school here instead of Ontario. prolly right about the time you started to drive, ha.. Glad they brought me back to be honest.

Thank you, I had not thought about removing the box or the ability to. I think I know the direction to go now.

yeah pete, i came into this world kickin' n screamin' n covered in someone else's blood in oshawa. shortly after that dad moved his business to parry sound an' we were there till '70 when he sold out. oh, by the way, kudos to your pop's on the mountain biking thing. 👍 . tell him to keep at it n he might catch my old boy, he'll be 93 in oct n still as tough as box of rusty spikes

More progress today, Shocks are ordered. Thank you @Hojack. Bilstein 7100's should be here in a few week's, then I will take care of some hoop's or tower's. My seat guy came to pick up my rear bench to match my front Corbeau seat's and my friend at the fab shop started on my bumper stuff, drawing, cutting and tested a corner. Sure is nice to have access to a cut table and such..

Had 4 cut as I am still not decided between two design's..

Wanted to check if he could do all bend's for the sides.

Thank God for a shop to work in these days ! :smokin: Still waiting for my shocks, my buddy's CNC is down so that put the brakes on the bumper for a bit. While waiting I decided to attack the interior, storage for some tools, amps, and such. I will be running around to find some dents in body shop's, and maybe a hail storm with this thing so building the rear to haul some dent tool's around my area.

Jesus might have been a carpenter, me, not so much ! lol. :grinpimp:

So, here we go, oh and please don't laugh at my cardboard skills :flipoff2: HA

IMG_0415.JPG

Ended up with my first attempt..

IMG_0420.JPG

BUT, I had not yet figured out that the blade on the saw takes an 1/8 of your dimensions... :smokin: Ooopps..Can't fix stupid, lol

So I decided to pay attention and came up with this.

IMG_0441-4.jpeg

Wanted to be able to adjust the height for deferent dent tools and cases I run with. I'm gonna finish the tops of the case's i think, with some kind of mesh to tie down some lawn chairs and some kind of screen so tool's don't come flying in the back of my head.

Which is gonna help with a set of speakers too boot .

IMG_0442.JPG

Which ( :worms:) is gonna make me learn how to fiberglass like a tuner, and finish the wheel wheels. Speaking of speakers, and learning how to fibreglass, well...

IMG_0414.JPG

TAKE CARE EVERYONE.

What are you going to finish your plywood with? Love the functionality.

Not sure yet, but awhile back I made a small speaker box in my Silverado and just put some gravelgaurd for texture and painted over it, and to be honest it held up very well, looks ok and very easy to clean. My plans are always open for change..

IMG_0450.webp

For the side on top to hold the cover in place and tie stuff down, I am planning to mount some lawn chairs there, I am gonna have my friend with this plasma table burn some of these brackets in thin stuff to tie down. I will change up the design of those Brkt's.

IMG_0452.webp

That is just awesome! Thanks for sharing. I will shamelessly steal your ideas. Right now I have some ammo cans full of truck parts (and some ammo), a couple duffel bags of gear, and a jug of coolant basically rolling around the back of my truck -- this is just the ticket.

Thanks, no worries, and speaking of ammo box's.. I will use, if I can find some more of theses handles to tie down the cover..

IMG_0451.webp

Now having pulled out that camo box as I was putting my amazing cardboard skill's to use on working out a new centre console..

IMG_0443.webp

Pretty slick eh.

looked at the box, and Boom it hit me..

IMG_0434.webp

Now, I just need there or four more of these so I can fab a console and everything is closed.. F*%@.. :bang:
