OK Mud, rig's back on track..But, again I'm dealing with a few things and any advice would be nice here in a moment.
When I pit this aside last year I thought my list of to do's for the rig to be on the road (excluding the interior) was..
1- finish a small repair to rear shackle (angles).
2- repair front shackle angle.
3- trunnion brgs adjust with proper tool from jason and install hubs.
4- repair front shock mounts and put some shocks.
5- front valence and bumper....
Then on to the alignment shop and on the road she goes.
First was the shackle angles I wanted to repair, had done a few searches on mud over the years and know I have to fix this before anything.
I am not to worried with the back yet as the bumper and spare are not on to weigh it down to much (more on the rear later) . Now remember this is a 4plus SR kit from Man-a fre and from what I read was most were moving the front shackle one inch forward or longer leafs by an inch or so.
Moving the shackle is easy enough but there is another problem to all this. While pulling the front end apart to do the trunnion brgs I noticed I was having the same problem I had with this kit on my 40 with the leaf pac.
The leafs are already starting to flatten which tells me the springs are to light or maybe the that angle just kills these springs even without the front bumper and winch being installed . I talked to Bryce at Cruiser outfitters and tells me that these (Dakar's ) are the medium set which are 200 over for the 2f and normal extras.
So, question is since I think I will need at least another leaf to beef it up for the weight that will be in the front with the 2H and extras should I just add the two new main leafs in maybe 1 1/2 inch longer and a tad thicker to overcome this ????
There is a spring shop here but they can't make a Military wrap to the spring and they would be thicker.
What direction would be best here? Where are you guys getting better front spring sets, Bryce tells me there is only one leaf added to make it a heavy set ??
All advice welcome.
