Any chance of getting some info for what rubber they end up using for the windshield, and if it will be the same rubber for the other fixed windows?

I've had a local glass guy here in Oz look at mine and he said no dramas to find rubbers that will suit, but it would be handy to know what someone else has used to be sure.

I can get all that info. It's an H gasket that has a "key" for the locking part...similar to OEM. I was talking to the tech today while he was looking at the truck and how the factory did it(assuming mine is still factory)....he said the trick is cutting the glass properly to fit the H gasket. It sometimes has to be a little bit smaller than what is in the truck now to use their generic gasket material.

I had them do an RV for me and it took the same style gasket as what will go on the 45. It took the guy a couple of attempts as I recall. Getting the glass to fit perfectly was key. If it's too large, the gasket can't lay flat but if it's too small, it won't stay in the gasket. Takes some skillz.

So the shakedown continues.

Windshield went in and it is a disaster. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I feel like the guy who put it in had no interest in doing it which is weird because he's always done my glass work. He was saying the front A pillars weren't straight....which is entirely possible. He used this horrible gasket and a bunch of glue and window weld. It looks horrible. It's embarrassing. I'm going to see a high end glass shop and discuss what we can do. The place I normally use was just sold to new owners after 25 years....I'm thinking there are some changes going on there with everyone that works there.

Today we had to fix a rear main seal leak. I did something really dumb....used a non-Toyota rear main seal. I know better. I'm not sure what happened. So out it came and back it will go in. We have a weird leak(a drop or 2) between the transfer and the trans....so I wanted to fix that anyways. The rear main was just the icing on the cake.

Gradually getting miles on the truck, chasing rattles and what not. We had a bad IAC on the motor.....it was stalling out after driving for 10 minutes or so. Swapped it with another truck and all is good so far.

This might be the weekend it comes home. Didn't want to drive it too much with the oil leak....but that will be fixed tomorrow.

Next up is setting up the fuel level on the Dakota Digital....we're also going to see if we can't calibrate the GPS speedo a little better. Seems high. Minor stuff I suppose....

That's sad! (About the windshield)

The windshield is a problem for me and I don't know how we will fix it. I'm hoping the other window place can come up with a solution. I have this super cool 4x4 RV that they had to cut new glass for and it had to go back 3 times for crappy fitment and leaks....the guy knew how to do it but for some reason it was kind of like he just kept doing it half assed. I am hoping that this is the case with the front windshield.

Dog does not care about windshield issues.

Regarding the windshield, if you need a paper template of the glass I can cut one and send it to you. My glass is cracked, but still in 1 piece to make a template. Not sure if that would help but the offer is open.

BTW - I love that your dog is ready to go on a cruise. That bench seat is the perfect height!

Thanks for the offer @extremeVA.

I have the OEM window that came out of the truck. The guy was saying that the glass wouldn't lay flush in the windshield so he could get the gasket on it properly. So he used a different type of gasket and had to cut a larger windshield which is norm. I will see what the hot rod/exotic guys say. I may need to rework the pillars to make things happen. There was some work done on the roof when I got the truck but I don't think it affected how straight the pillars were.

I think the guy had zero interest in doing the work. Took him 3 days for a crap job.

The dog loves all the trucks....always ready for a ride. Even if it's just going from inside to outside of the garage. Ha.

The LV is unbelievable. My dog loved his Cruisers as well and would do anything just to go for a ride.

Red 45s and dogs go together I guess. This dog loved being in that truck. The windshield vent was right at nose level for her....perfect.

It is probably very expensive, but the architectural glass that Jonathan Ward uses in his Icon 4x4 builds looks pretty damn impressive. I suppose you could get a few sets cut, that you could sell to off set the cost. Cheers, Ben

We have an Icon truck in the shop. It's the Icon D200 Reformer. Gorgeous gorgeous truck. Amazing. The build quality is top notch. It has architectural glass in it I think. It's a tinted chrome look....and it's not tint. I know he likes to use that stuff so I would assume that is what in it. That truck's interior is downright scary with reflections in the glass. Lol. I've driven it a fair amount(we keep it for the client who owns it). Every time I drive it, I constantly hit the brakes thinking somebody is going to hit me. Very very strange. Especially the rear window.

I will be having 3M Crystalline 70 installed at some point in the LV. They 70 has a very cool blue tint to it. The amount of heat it blocks is incredible. We run it on the majority of our customer cars(usually the windshield). I'm just a little worried about the tint. Tint looks weird on old vehicles in my opinion. They do a 90 percent version as well.....I have that in my 79 series. Virtually invisible. It's great. Keeps that truck very very cool. Only problem is.....it's hugely expensive. 3x what normal tint runs. Good thing I get a sizable discount!

The D200 amongst some TLCs.

Very cool truck....lots of info about it on the net. 4000 man hours to build it. BIG dollar build.

Big day today.....I brought the truck home. Still have a bit of a punch list of things to finish up but we knock a few off the list each day.

Tightened up some rattles in the rear tailgate, clipped in the seat belts......dumb little stuff.

Today we also set up the fuel level on the Dakota Digital gauge system....it's a little complex. Fuel is topped off, then drained, then filled up in thirds. I only got about 15 gallons in the truck....looked all over for capacity but couldn't find anything. Anybody know the fuel capacity of these things?

Added some hubcaps too.

Sure hope I never lose this thing.....
