For some reason I think it is but I might be totally wrong. It was always one of my favorite parts of the truck.

My tech was saying the same thing about the neck....he said if I lost that cap, I'd be kind of screwed.

Got some good miles on the truck this weekend.

Speedo showing 80mph....it's about 11mph optimistic. Need to calibrate it. Probably wasn't the smartest thing to do the GPS speedo setup on this truck as the antenna is under the dash.....really would be more accurate if it was exposed but that would look dumb on an LV.

This truck has the quietest driveline of any Land Cruiser I have ever had. There is zero whine. Maybe the openness of the LV's cabin helps keep it quieter than the other ones I have but there is no noise in this truck(I have to check the tach to make sure it hasn't stalled out at lights). I'm even more convinced now that a 4spd behind a 3FE with 3.73s is one of the best setups for these old trucks to keep them still somewhat like a Cruiser but very useable.

We called Dakota about the inaccuracy of the water temp(about 30 degrees over). The guy said "that's the way it is". OK. Not quite the answer I wanted to hear. Seems common with these gauges. We tried pulling the needle and setting it but the system resets so that didn't work.

Doing a proper alignment this week, charging the AC system and then it's time to get a headliner and door panels in it.....then start a new project!

My LPB has the same setup and that truck really feels good at speed. Very easy driving combo.

The LV is a little twitchy right now. It's very unstable but I haven't looked at the alignment numbers yet...just been gradually putting toe into it so it's useable and not darting off the road. I think the caster might be off. I also think that it was setup with a very heavy rear OME spring. I'll have to see if there is a helper leaf in it. The front was probably spec'd for a winch(since it had a Ramsey) so I'm not sure if that's an issue. Maybe new springs are in store.

First things first....alignment.

This truck had caster shims as I recall. It feels like a caster issue to me.....the wheel isn't returning to center which causes me to correct...then it catches up and you have to correct the correction. Dialing in the toe did wonders for stability though.

The ride isn't terrible at all....in fact a tad more bouncy than I expected. Perhaps because the wagon is carrying more weight over the rear of it than a LPB? Metal roof, rear seat, fuel tank, spare tire, heavy rear tail gate, glass, doors, etc. Doesn't take much weight in that LPB to change how it feels....I'd have to think that wagon has 400 pounds more over the rear axle than the pickup. At least. Maybe more.

I'll know more when I put it on the alignment rack.

So we took out the caster shims out today and the truck feels remarkably better(for a truck without a proper alignment). I measured the bottom of the diff on my LPB and it was at 10 degrees.....the LV was at 15 degrees with the shims in. So out they came. Nice.

I think I'm going to add the rear leaves that I took out of the LPB to the LV to help tighten up the rear. Still feels bouncy and unsettled to me.

Had a visitor from @cruisercorps stop by today to check out the Land Cruiser happenings going on at the shop. He said his guys were telling him about this thread and that he had to stop by while visiting shops in FL. We had a good talk.....and there are Cruiser Corps parts on the LV.

We were talking about his LV......sounds nice. I think the visit was a good motivation.....especially seeing the other one I have.

Cool. Can't be many of those caps left around.

Chris thanks for letting me hang out for a few hours. Your place rocks and I am blown away with your talent.

Nolan..... you should have come with me!

Yes!!!!! I am motivated and a tad depressed!
