1000-ish hours I would bet but that doesn't include body work since I won't be painting it. It's nothing to do 40-50 per week on it. And that's with one guy. I put my time in, my other guy puts time in....adds up quickly. We have an Icon D200 truck in the shop....it had something like 4000 hours put into it. That's 2 years of work I bet....maybe more. Crazy how much time gets eaten up on builds.

The skills of the people here on the boards blows me away sometimes. Beautiful work.

Thanks for the compliment. This was my newest guy's work....he is new to LCs and new to this type of metal work. I'm very happy with it.

Agreed on the work on these boards...it's amazing. So much talent.

What a way to spend a couple of days.....aircraft stripper and a scraper. Fortunately the Durabak that was previously installed is coming off super easy.

Not a spec of rust on this trucks rear floor. The front had a little work done when I had the roof done...I think the leaking roof had allowed water to pool inside the truck and of course those areas then rotted. But that's it. The rear of this truck is nearly spotless. Really happy. Amazing that it stayed so rust free. One more day removing this junk and then we can start prepping for the coatings we will be doing...

So with some final cleaning and a light wire brushing, this is where we are. I think I might leave it like this. I like it way too much to cover it all up. Hardly any rot but once we got on the floors with the wire wheel, we found some.

When we popped off the rear cargo side panels, we found this cool writing....can anyone translate?

That is cool. When I pulled the wood strips that held the head liner in on my LV it was covered in places with japanese characters.

We pulled my headliner wood off today....I'll have to have a look for more writing.

I can't quite figure out how this truck was painted...the green/yellow paint is everywhere...behind the side panels, in the doors, on the floors. I'm guessing it was an epoxy primer that somebody sprayed over all the pieces. I think the backsides of those inner panels were painted but the writing bled thru the paint. There is no sign of any type of original white or grey paint.

What did you use to replace the wood with? My interior guy says they have plastic or something they use now.

I haven't gotten to the place where I'm replacing the headliner and I won't be there any time soon. My LV has been on hold for 6 years and I'll be jumping back in in about a month.

Cool. I'll pas along what my interior guys come up with. I don't think it's going to be a big deal.

Pressing on with the interior stuff for the LV....today we painted the roof with POR15...single coat on some surface rusted metal. Didn't bother with the metal prep and all of that. Just brushed it to get off the loose stuff and put it on. When it was no longer tacky, we sprayed some Lizardskin Ceramic Insulation on it...2 coats...about 40mils. This stuff is really cool. On my other builds I usually do the sound control product first, then the insulation as per Lizardskin. I had the insulation on hand so I went ahead and put it on as I did not want the Por15 to dry fully...that becomes a lot of work to sand or spray with self etch primer. In the summer, we do this stuff in the shop where we work on the fancy cars....I try to keep sprays to a minimum.

I called the guy at Lizardskin....he didn't seem to worried about applying the sound control OVER the insulation. So maybe we'll give it a go when the sound control arrives. I will most definitely use this on the floorboards under the seat and the firewall. This stuff is pretty remarkable. We'll bedline over it once it cures.

So we found out that this means, "with putty" or "apply putty". Pretty cool.

Very interesting about the "apply putty." Thanks for getting that translated.

We've known for some time that Gifu really did a lot of hand work on the wagons.

I guess this confirms that Bondo was being used from the very beginning.

Does anyone know what the backside of these panels were originally finished in? I'm guessing that my truck was blasted at some point and epoxy primed. Maybe this writing bled thru the epoxy coating? Every single part of the interior of my truck is coated in this or a similar type of primer.

One of our local machinists has a brother that teaches Japanese in Japan...he translated it for us. Really cool.

We got our first coat of MasterSeriesCT Rust Preventative Sealer on today.....neat stuff. We had a mixture of some new clean metal and some rusty metal on the front floorboards(also some epoxy primed surfaces). We cleaned everything very well, metal prepped the new metal patch work and sanded the epoxy primer. We put this stuff on per the directions...it fills in very very well. My floorboards had pinholes(and some.....well....large pinholes). You can really load this stuff up in the pinhole and pitted areas.....leveled out nicely. Per the advice of the owner of the company, we mixed in a little bit of fiberglass mat into the the areas with the bigger holes(we had tape on the backside). It worked perfectly to bridge the holes...we'll probably do the same under the truck and then coat it all with bedliner. Basically we will completely seal the top and bottom of this truck.

I was going to use POR15 like I normally do but I'm glad I switched to this. It's very different than POR15....it's thicker...really fills in. 2 coats are recommended so we'll do a coat, maybe 2 tomorrow. It can be sanded, it can go over bondo, under bondo, etc. It's also pretty friendly to the wallet.

After we finish with the MasterSeriesCT.....it's back to Lizard Skin....then our custom colored bed liner. This truck is going to have a seriously cool interior. Really looking forward to seeing it come together.

2-3 coats of the MasterSeriesCT on the floor.....really filled in everything. The areas that we mixed in the glass mat are insanely strong.

The Lizard Skin Sound Control on the roof is amazing.....solid as a rock now.

My rear interior cargo panels were painted the same color inside and out. They are an off white or cream color. I believe them to be original paint.
I don't have them installed currently but plan to redo them soon.
Keep up the good work.

Mine are kind of a green....camera isn't getting them too good. I'm thinking this thing was blasted and then epoxy primed.

Did yours have the double stick tape/gaskets on them?
