Throttle pretty much done. May need a slight tweak at the pedal for full travel.
Been chasing electrical gremlins all day. Making progress but nothing picture worthy. Bleed the brakes again. Got good pedal.

It's not much, but i finally came up with a alternator mount design. I made a flat plate that mounts to 2 points on the intake. I will build another support to the water pump bolts. Then add an adjustment piece that allows belt tightening.
Once this is complete, most items are done except some wiring or chasing gremlins. I will take it to get an exhaust system as soon as it moves under its own power (on and off the trailer).

New lower hose installed. All belts tight and fluids topped off. I am having issues with the gas tank drain plug. I thought I had a new gasket.....wrong. The old one was leaking. After a few tries with other materials.....still leaks. This last time I used fuel proof thread sealant on the original plastic gasket. Giving it some time to dry.
I have cranked and run the motor for short bursts with starting fluid today. Belts seem happy so far. Hopefully the fuel plug will hold, so I can give it real fuel and run it for some time.
I also installed my era correct license plate.

Finished up some wiring. Used the coil hot lead to trip a couple relays that control the ignition and electric fan. Made a small panel mounted to the old coil mount to hold the fuse block and relays. All works well so far.
Still having gas tank leakage. Waiting for parts to deal with this.

Swapped my oem tail light assemblies back in and all my issues are gone. The pin out was obviously wrong in the cheap ones. Sure I could have rearranged them, but oem is always better. I did use the gasket from the cheapies on the oem ones though.
Now I need to find the power issue on the turn signal circuit.

Suspicion confirmed. The fuel tank has a small pin hole causing my leak. You can see it is in an area of corrosion. Granted this tank was sand blasted then powder coated. I bet no one ever tested it. I bought it from a friend and it passed my visual inspection.
Oh well......at least I already have a new replacement. I should have that installed shortly. Then hopefully I can get the exhaust done this week. Then it should be drivable. Until the next issues arrive.

The exhaust turned out great. Props to Performance Mulffler in Peoria. It's 2 inch that y's into a 2 1/2 pipe thru a Dynamax muffler then tailpipe. It's not too loud from what I can tell by running it for a few seconds.
I still have a few issues before I can actually drive it. But soon it shall happen.

That looks great. How about some more pics of the y pipe. That 40's come a long way.

That’s a mature oil pan 😎.

I finally got it running and idling. Timing still needs some tweaks as does the carburetor. Sounds pretty good. Smoked alot but it's clearing up. I will change the oil after a few more runs.
It's got a few leaks. Drivers side valve cover is leaking at the rear. Power steering fluid is cavatated and foaming out the cap. Plus the fuel pump is leaking too.
Despite all this.....I am gonna call that a win.
