New fuel pump working fine. I wanna make a correction on what muffler I said was installed. It's a Magnaflow.

New parts are ordered. I swapped my head light switch with an extra one......and waaaaaa laaaaa.......lights now working properly. Finally some easy victory.
As long as all the new steering parts work, the last major obstacle should only be the clutch. It still needs tinkering, cause I suspect it's stuck to the flywheel.

Happy Veterans Day. Thanks to those who served. 🇺🇲
The first pic is my Dad's helmet and guitar. The helmet was government issue for his tour in Vietnam.....circa 1966. The guitar he bought in Japan while on that tour.

Cruiser wise....i got a timing tab and installed it. I think I am going to remove it and try to cut away the remains of the broken one though.

Got the new rebuilt box. This is the 27-6529 part number. It's got the larger 3 1/4 bore which gives its more power than the 3 (what I have now). I will probably redo the mounting completely. The po version is crude and the bolts are not sleeved. This will be Sundays project.

Tonight I am giving the fake 45 a good once over for tomorrow's trip. Going to explore some old mines.

Got lazy and didn't work on the steering box mount yet. So, tonight I reinstalled the working head light switch, column covers, and steering wheel. Then drained the oil and removed the filter.
I had replaced the filter before I started the motor, but not the oil. So now, after some minor run time, I will replace both.
I noticed this filter adapter. It's an AC.....like AC Delco I would imagine. Is this an early sbc thing? It might be the source of one of the leaks.

The AC adapter is a canister to spin-on oil filter adapter. I'm not the greatest expert on these but they are usually seen on 283's and 265's, especially where the crank is not drilled for a balancer bolt. They don't usually leak but there is a big o-ring between the block and the adapter as well as a round rubber seal, likely where your leak is coming from.

Cleared another hurdle. Got the title today. Took 3 months and was the most I have ever paid. I have done this bonded title.....lost title deal many times in the past. They keep making it more difficult ever time. Guess its time to stop buying junk with no title if I plan to restore it..... lol

Anyways......clean title in hand.

Finally worked on the steering box mount. Made sleeves for the frame and got 3 of those in place. One is off and will need to be adjusted. The 4th one ( not in place yet) is really close to the shackle hanger, but it will fit. I will shorten the outside part of the sleeve once everything is mocked in place.

Everything is painted and put back together. Working on bleeding the system. No leaks so far for the power steering.
I did however find the main leak on the motor. The rear of the driver side valve cover is leaking. These valve covers are kind of beat up. I think I am gonna get some new ones tomorrow at Speedway Motors.

and just so you know, there's ample clearance and no possible rubbage for the steering lines and the bib.

I bashed the firewall some. Then took the flapper disc to the end of the valve cover. I removed alot of excess material. I used the gasket as a template for how much I could safely remove and still have a good sealing surface. It now barely fits.
No leaks as far as I can tell. I ran it for a bit and set the timing and idle speed. Next up is the clutch situation and possible test drive.
