Got it fired up this morning. I have only run it for short times on starting fluid. It is ridiculously loud with the open manifolds. It sounded okay with no weird noises. I'll rig up a temp fuel source and run it longer another day.
I switched gears and am going to reupholster the jump seats. Basically cause I can do it in the air conditioned house as oppose to the sauna garage.

Jump seats are done. I stripped the frames down and repainted those. I reused the foam and installed new covers. Already back in the truck.

Starting to get some lights going. Hammered a new oem fresh bumper on too.

Installed some side view mirrors. The arms are new oem Toyota.....kind of like the early ones. I bought oem mirror heads too, but decided to use these mirror heads instead. They came new in the box with this truck, plus I like the blue black contrast.
This rig is only getting a bikini top, that's why i have them mounted as such.

Today was a stare and scratch your head kind of day. The PO accessory drive set up was junk. The power steering had no belt adjustment and the alternator was way out of line.
I am going to modify the power steering pump mount and ad an adjustable turn buckle kind of thing. Then build a full custom alternator mount to make room for a battery mount. The battery mount and tray will be roughly as pictured. I will add some heat shield as well.

I modified the power steering mount and added a threaded rod adjuster. Still need to get a new proper belt. Turned out well.
Built a battery mount. Used part of the old oem mount and put it on legs to raise it up. Then bolted the factory battery tray in place.
Still need to build an alternator mount, but that's for another day.

Closed the hood for the first time in a long time.....lol. Slapped on the hubcaps. I am really liking the looks of this one. Hope it runs this good too.

Got the low pressure return line finished for the power steering. Need to get a new high pressure line.
I refinished the steering wheel too. It was pretty rough, so I sanded it down. Then primed and painted. I didn't feel like spending the time to fill the cracks and body work it. It's better than before, so I am good with it.

Just regular Rustoleum primer and spray paint. Have done this before with decent results.

Steering wheel back together. Bought a few odds and ends at Speedway Motors today. Unfortunately, my air cleaner will need a spacer to clear the fuel line. I got the hood clearance, so I will make a simple spacer ring. It's always something.

Made my air cleaner spacer. Installed the wire looms....pretty cheesy, but they were like $9. Made the main battery cable and grounds.

Picked up a battery and some radiator hoses this morning. I hate this style of radiator hose but it's what works for this application.

Battery is in with hold down that came with truck. I might buy an oem one and replace it. Battery cables are done. Got the fuel line finished. Spent some time hammering and straightening the passenger rocker and running board. Forgot to talk a before pic. It's definitely better now.

You can try Gates 20573 for the lower hose and 20416 for the upper. You'll most likely have to trim this a bit. Most a/p store should be able to cross reference the #'s too.

I came up with a throttle cable setup. I modified the oem pedal to except the cable style end. Then used a bracket off the old setup and made that work on the carb base. I did it this way to minimize hacking and drilling more holes. I did have to add one small hole, but it's small.

Unfortunately, it does not have enough travel to open the carb all the way. So that kinda sucks......I'll figure something out. Actually, while typing this.....I think I can just bend the pedal up. This way I get the travel before it bottoms out on the floor.

Here's the hoses I referenced.
I don't know if you're going to run heat or not but I found a gates hose 18775 which I circled, worked great for my later model long water pump. The hose connection is sleeved with pipe. It works great with the 75 stk heater control valve. It appears your sbc is an early engine or at least the heads are, which creates a challenge mounting the accessories.

I replaced the fuse block with a repop. Check all voltages there and all is good. Still have several electrical gremlins. I think the head light switch is an issue. I have all the normal lights working, but when you turn on the head lights all the others go out. The heater blower also no workie.
Also, is the ground for the horn in the plug for the ignition switch or turn signal switch.
Headed to print up a wiring diagram now....and start figuring chit out.
