Thanks for finding this alabamatacomaguy

Where are you located, some parts of the country motors can be found for cheap.
I saw a 2f forsale on craigslist in Alabama for 250 last week. Don't know how much your wanting to do to an engine rebuilding wise but there are many ways, buying a complete motor from a vender would be the most expensive but would give piece of mind that the motor should be in good shape.

hope that ends up working out well for you.
Im not even sure where that city is in Alabama. On a map it looks close to where I got my dog from (carbon hill) about a decade ago. I just remember laughing at the road signs saying future home of a highway . It felt like driving into no mans land didnt see anything for miles. Anyway good luck and I hope everything works out well for the project. I am interested to see how the motor build progress goes, I figure eventually every motor will go and its nice to know what options are out there.

Now I am looking for an Offenhauser Intake Manifold that will fit a Holley 4bbl carburetor. I intend to use the Holley 470cfm Truck Avenger Carburetor. I cannot find one anywhere and can't even find an adapter to the stock intake manifold that isn't universal.

What data do you have for the Holley 4bbl on a 2F?
Most feel a well tuned Aisin is best. There are OEM F intakes from the late '60s that are said to breathe a little better when paired with a good header on a 2F.

I have no data but from general motor experience it will not hurt anything. I had a 73 Datsun 260z with a Holley 450cfm 4 bbl and it made a difference

Do not do the Offenhauser intake or the Holley. If you get too far off the "what works" trail for these things you will lose most of us. Most of us are running stock intake and carbs although I run a Weber and have had great luck. Buy a running 2F, stab it in there and rock out. Easy...

This is my new 1978 2F

Now throw a stock intake and carb on there, buy a header from Bob @ TPI4x4.com and rock out.

clean looking motor - i like it. if you're scrapping any of the stock 3 speed parts (column, shifter, etc.) Don't throw it away. Some of those parts can be rare and I might need one!

1F intake and carb work really well on my 2F :D

Ok so I have my 2F and my stock 3 speed column shift. I will be putting my 2F in soon, but before I do I have an important question. Will the 4 speed bolt in and up to my stock transfer case? Also, I know a GM SM465 will work with the 2f and my stock transfer case but will a GM 5 speed work say out of an S10? I want to be able to do 70-75mph. Is that even possible?

Do you have 3.73 third members? I have two 2Fs and two 4 speed floor shift trannys with transfer cases from a 75 and a 76, my 75 has 3.73 axles and the next year they changed to 4.11 axles. The 3.73s would be better for highway travel. The drive trains are for sale as well as the 3.73 axles. I'm going GM v8/auto

Both 75 and 76 model year FJ40's had 4.11 gearing stock in the US. They might have been changed at some point though.

Mine is a 1970 so it should have 3.73 right? How much would you sell a 4 speed and transfer case for? Will the 4 speed bolt up to my 3 speed transfer case?

No, yours would be 4.11 too if original. Three and four speeds both have the same final drive ratio so that does not impact driving speed

This^

I also couldn't give away my four speed. So I harvested all the bolts and cut the input off for a clutch alignment tool and scrapped the rest.
