There is a similar thread in both the 100 and 200 Classifieds Sections, makes sense here too. These trucks are changing hands at a rapid rate these days, having consolidated live market data is a nice thing for both buyers and sellers.

If you have recently bought or sold an 80 series and are comfortable sharing the details, post it here.

I just sold my 94 for half what these auctions are bringing. You have to remember that the collectors are driving prices, not the wheeling people. An 80 that gets used is a good rig but simple things are getting harder to find. Dent a door and you have to search high and low across 10 states to find one. Ruin a hood and it might take months to get another. That's why I'm out. They are amazing rigs, but not worth the trouble anymore.
Isn’t it mostly the cosmetic stuff that’s NLA? I didn’t find it that hard to get most major mechanical parts, and there’s a healthy aftermarket to fill in the gap. They made hundreds of thousands (millions?) of these things globally after all.

Everyone has their own pain tolerance with this kind of thing but there is no ignoring the reality that it is getting worse by the month at this point.

Roughly 90k 91-97 were sold in the US (including LX450 which amount roughly 15k).

These are sales by year and not sales per model year - the point is it's not multiple hundreds of thousands here in the US.

God forbid any of you own something actually rare lol

How much do you guys think these 2 are worth: thanks

Been down that road too many times. That's why I'm out of 80's now. Its one thing to compete against rust and the crusher, I can handle that. What I refuse to do is compete against all the collectors and flippers who have no intention of using them, just driving the prices higher. I'll leave that game to people with more money than me.

The 80 market isnt s***

Own an actual limited production vehicle.
One you can't buy parts for

Yeah, my Koenigsegg is rough for that.

People here are spoiled. Dealerships selling parts for a 30 year old car? Try that with a Ford.

Waaaaa I can't buy a new OEM hood.

Cry me a ****ing river

I'm literally on the way to the Dealer this morning to pick up my small parts I ordered for the 80 on Friday. It's a tough life.

Will be interesting to see what happens to 80 prices as these sources continue to dry up though - Going to have to be a lot more of an enthusiast to want to take one on.

So I shouldn't dive in head first on buying back my old no-sunroof 80 that needs a ton of work? $6k for 207k miles, rust-free, horrific paint condition (failed amateur repaint), lots of leaks, CEL...but no sunroof :)

Sounds like a bad decision to me. Show me where it is posted.

If you're here, you're probably an "enthusuast". :flipoff2:

Sounds like a great deal to me!

Nope. You shouldn't buy it.
Please forward the sellers contact info, uh, so I can inform him you will not be buying it...

@FMC80

It's not. I keep contact with all of the owners of the vehicles I've sold. Sort of a litmus test on doing the right thing. I like checking in.

DM me if you want details, but Im likely going to bring it home.

@OC Flipper You've got enough to worry about with your current fleet.

You sensed my sarcasm.

Hey LCProject,
Yes my fleet consists of a 40, 61, 73, three 80s, a 200 and a LX570 and a Defender (but that doesn't count).
You call me OCFlipper because I am selling one of my 80s?
Geez.. If I recall you bought a 100 and sold it soon after... are you Midwest Flipper?
But I must say, your review of the BaT auctions is a valuable service to shoppers, explaining what we are looking at, and based solely on pictures what the sellers may not be disclosing. Appreciate that.
