Let’s try this again, prior thread deleted, I assume they want to keep it clean, there was no explation given.

If you have sold a 100 series recently and want to share what you paid with details on truck this will be helpful for potential buyers currently looking.

This thread can be helpful for buyers looking to understand the market and different factors that come into play on pricing.

Please stay on topic!

I recently sold 2004 LX with 176k for 12,500. Truck was 9/10 on condition with full service records. Southern Vehicle no rust.

Wow, just saw this on cars and bids. Can definitely be used for leverage if you're a buyer. Not great news for people looking to unload.

a pretty rough pearl LX poorly presented for 9k. not a good representation to use for leverage unless searching something of similar quality..

check this one to gauge price of a quality 4 speed Toy 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser - V8 Power, 4WD, Locking Center Differential, Unmodified - https://carsandbids.com/auctions/3048g6Op/2002-toyota-land-cruiser

Should go for 15+, which is still pretty high considering a few years ago it would be 10.

Bought my first 100 last week and love it!

2007 Land Cruiser 199k miles
No AHC. Very clean No Rust (southern car until 2020). Recent timing belt and WP and full history of very good maintenance records. No accidents.

$16k vehicle price (total sale $20k which included new aftermarket bumper, ironman lift and bunch of other oem new parts yet to be installed...new headlights, brakes, cvs, bearings etc).

Only issues were weeping valve cover gaskets and little bit of cv boot leakage.

I sold my built 2001 Cruiser last month for 17K. 268K miles, good overall shape, ARB lockers front/rear, new 34" tires, ARB bumper and Warn Winch, white knuckle sliders and more. I think the guy got a heck of a deal. Had it listed for a while at 19K with very little action, lowered to 18K and started to get some tire kickers. At 17K I was getting serous buyers. The market has definitely dropped from where it was two years ago. Fuel cost is a concern for most and there are not a lot of people with 15K+ lying around for toys these days.

This looks like a very clean 100 series. IMO it’s priced like $10K too high. I think it’s probably a $25k vehicle at most. What are you guys thoughts on this one?

Maybe an $18k truck stock (probably less in the current market) and if you take him at his word of $50k invested, you can pretty much consider any maintenance/parts to be a quarter on the dollar value back, so $26k would seem about right ($50k-$18k*.25+$18k). If the truck was built EXACTLY how you wanted it then obviously the value of those build items goes up, but otherwise I'd agree it's about $10k high.

The only time I really feel like $X.XX invested means anything is with an extremely custom build that you cannot easily recreate, and that person also put 'sweat equity' into it so you definitely couldn't recreate it for the same price. Like this, for example: No Reserve: 4.7L-Powered 1964 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-toyota-land-cruiser-fj45-6/

(Sorry for derailing the thread, but that build is incredible.)

That’s what I figured. Honestly I’d make an offer at $25k but it’s probably too “low” given their asking price. Just don’t see myself spending that much for a 200k+ mi 100 series. I think there was a local 2013 200 series with 95k miles on it asking like $38-$39K.

Ended up selling for < 13k.

I just jumped over here to see what the conversation looked like. My local FB Marketplace is full of 100 series with asking prices at 18-25k. I can't imagine that is what people are really getting for them. I'm assuming there are far fewer reasonably priced 100s actually for sale and they go quicker. The stuff in my FB marketplace is just the leftover riff-raff.

Yep.

They're piling up on FB in Houston -- most with cheap front bumpers and cheaper roof racks calling themselves builds. I think we'll see 100 prices return back to earth but there should still be expectations of significant costs baselining vehicles. $ invested will be more important when they pertain to things like brake boosters (there's a poll somewhere -- most problems were in the 150-250K mileage iirc), AHC, axles, etc. I suspect there's a lot of trucks with $3000 in bumpers and skid plates that need $3000 worth of suspension work.

Having started a baby build myself, I'd be more apt to give .50/dollar or even more -- if, as @thezbone said, it's stuff I want. Especially if it's pain in the ass esoteric stuff, like a long range fuel tank, water heaters, or items with long lead times.

Bought a 2006 for $19,000 last month. (asking price was $20k)

-201,000 miles on the odo
-timing belt, water pump, cv axles done at 200,500 miles
-paint in good shape, all electronics/ac/heat work great
-recently undercoated, looks like rust was very minor except on the fuel tank skid which got the worst of it.
-no body rust except where the leaky 3rd row a/c lines were dripping in the rear passenger wheel well, easy fix with some rust reformer and mud flap material.
-OME lift kit
-ARB Sahara front bumper with bull bar
-Coastal offroad rear bumper
-smittybilt 12k comp series waterproof winch
-slee rock sliders
-frontrunner slimline II roof rack
-dual battery
-tom woods double cardon driveshaft

was a few grand more than I was planning on spending but with the recent maintenance and all of the upgrades (new add-ons would have cost $8k+, which I would have done anyway) it seems like a good deal.

Since I bought it I have done headlight restoration, replaced the heater tees, added the Hella 500s, disconnected the AHC plug to the ECU to get the light off the dash, upgraded speakers all around and added a grom blutooth adapter, added ultragauge ecu monitoring system, new lseat upolstery on front row, new oem fuel filter, engine oil change, front and rear diff oil change, and lubed the driveshaft. Next up is repacking the wheel bearings, replace coolant and trans fluid, and possibly brakes. Its a hell of a fun project.

Where did you go for speakers in Charleston?
