Personally I like hard compound wood/material for amp racks, they tend to hold up better in a rough riding environment. So masonite for lightweight jobs (like my door panels) and MDF for the amp racks. The weight off MDF bothers me though... Would love to use sheet aluminum but the cost off materials and additional tools makes that unrealistic for me. That panel was done using 5/8".
Yes, I should be able to. I know that Santa Clause is bringing me a DieHard Platinum Marine 31m so I should have plenty off juice to supply the system. This system totals out at 65 amps max draw so it won't be that bad. I had over 150 amps drawing on my 4Runner system and with proper battery and capacitor setup I never needed the additional alternator.
I wanted to get my hands on Photoman's bracket so that in the future when even more draw is put on the system I could upgrade but I was too late. I am sure that after my new job starts my cash flow will recover and I will look into the bracket and alternator again.

I just want to mention that with all that cool stereo equipment under that sliding glass window, make sure that thing is sealed good. These trucks have issues with those windows leaking down into the panel. I would hate to see all that good equipment get ruined by rain.

Once again thanks to this forum I knew about that issue before I started the project. I made sure all the seals were in good condition and did a few water tests of my own. I do however think that the next time I have to take the panels off I will make some sort of water shield over the panels I put in there, that way if water does get in that it will be guided around the gear.

Nice rig, but i would like to see some pics and here your story of the South Pacific Adventure , 4 months sounds like theres a story or two there. I have always wanted to just take off and do something impulsive like travel somewhere for months at a time, very envious my friend, of the L.C too.

work I love a good audio system and used to do somethings myself in my old 91 Explorer and would love the knowledge you have to be able to do everything
