we forgot to pull pilot bearing yesterday so I spent a good 2 hours last night making "good way to kill yourself or at least loose body parts" back yard, knuckle dragin tools to get it out... no luck... still trying to find one to use around town.... tried the grease trick... no luck... but I got full of grease doing it... might have to borrow Steve’s but that will be at least over night delivery..... and I wanted to work on this tonight....

waiting for a few calls... hope someone has one...

:D glad... reading this last few pages makes me want to cry...

Yours is looking great and you are certainly ahead of me now. I wanted to cry on Saturday. I didn't notice the 4 freeze plugs inside the pushrod cover area when I was putting mine together and never put any in. So I filled my new rebuilt engine with coolant pretty much all the way up into the valve cover! Now the head, oil pan, and side cover are off and I'm about 10 steps backwards. I'll probably stay up late a few nights this week and work on it, and maybe take another day off to wrap it up.

I heard you grind numbers pretty well, a carriage bolt shouldn't be that big of a stretch;)

the grinding went ok... it was just that is was so stuck in there that it actually bent the washer I was using and then f'ed up the carriage bolt threads................. I only had one, or could only find one so I was dead in the water...

Did you try bread - I hope I never resort to using bread but now every time I see a pilot bearing I think of soft white sliced bread.

If you haven't come across it search bread and pilot.

You know that Poser secretly employs an exorcist don't you? All engines passing through his shop, come out curse and demon free! ;)
Has it been broken in already, or do you have to do that again?

Awesome you got it back so quickly, lets see some video of the first 'second' run when it's done.

nope it needs to be broke in again... the Cam was f'ed up so it has a brand new one... also the crank was ground.... new cam bearings and rod bearings... so it is basicly all new... only used things are the pistons which were new last time... so they have 116 miles and 12.1 hours on them.. :D
