So here we go again:

Had a long night last night… no wonder I am so tired today…. I finished all my body work ( or for now) cleaned things up and started taping this thing off so I could spray primer…… I originally was just going to tape it and then spray the next day but I got on a roll and decided to do it all… I have to say I am not happy with how things turned out… I was going to spray the Etching primer (2 coats) then start spraying the sand able primer over that (probably 3 coats) then sand it all down… well after the Etching I was so unhappy with how the primer was laying down that I quit…. Seems there is a lot of orange peal and problems with how it lays flat in some places more than others…. Don’t get me wrong it can all be wet sanded out and then fixed…. But it should not have to be…. Really the only thing I am out is some time….. I have to re-tape everything again… also some sanding……. But what do you do……

This whole thing makes me scared about the painting now….. Wish I know more now to use that gun, how to mix the paint for sure… and just more knowledge on it… my goal is to find someone in the area that I can get more of a hands on talk with… any maybe I am doing thing right and I had too much dust in the air….. I know I would not have painted painted with the shop the way it was last night but I thought primer would be okay because I had to sand it anyway… don’t get me wrong it was clean but not as clean as I would have liked it… anyhow….. don’t know how much time I will have tonight as I have accounting work when I get home… but I would like to get some things sanded tonight…. Mainly because I am embarrassed with how it looks and feels up close……. :bang:

The only good thing to happen is the two spots on the cowl I was worried about look good and will require no more work…

pics as always... just not too proud to show them....

Preparation buddy.

It is all in the prep. The more time you spend on that, the better the end result will be.

Did you wipe the whole tub down with a cleaner before you applied your primer?

If you did use a cleaner, is it compatible with the primer?

Oh-

Have you changed spark plugs in your boat yet?
Have you purchased plugs and wires yet?
Do you have a good battery or two in the boat yet?

yea I know... this is where I messed up, I need to not get in a hurry...

yup! wax and grease remover

I got it at the body shop with the paint and the guy picked it out.... worked great before...

nope.... turned the idle up and it runs great!!! oh and cleaned air filter... never started as good as it does now.. want to cruise for chicks this weekend :flipoff2:

Have you purchased plugs and wires yet?
yea I got new plugs... no new wires, just have not put them in.......... I will sell them to you when you buy the boat!

Do you have a good battery or two in the boat yet?
yes now both are charged... funny when you leave the depth finder on for 2 weeks it tends to wear one of them down!!!

20 fxxxing question day........... hahahah... I know I just talked to you on the phone and already went through all this... but :flipoff2: anyway........... see you in a few hours!!

update:

got everything sanded down last night.... feel way better about it... not done or ready for more primer but will be soon...

going to be heading to MILLHOUSE place tonight and helping my dad on his house all weekend so I will not get anything done... I will be working on this all next week again...

Spent all day Sunday getting some things ready for the sand blaster guy and doing some blasting of my own... got the windshield ready. had to take out the glass, and remove the wipers and the biggest thing was to grind out 2 bolts that were stuck on the hinges... I ended up having to drill those out and re tap them... I was able to re tap them the same size because I did not really mess up the treads just needed a tap run through them to clean them up...

I spent a few hours on the hood thinking I could get it good enough where I don’t need to spend the $$ to get it sand blasted but on the back side there are just too many little areas I can not get to very well (even by hand) and I know I will be disappointed if I don’t bring it in to get done... good news is I got all the big and flat parts done so I don’t have to worry about warping of any kind... just going to have him do the back side around the corners, edges and the louvers... other wise that is it...

Also spent time with the blast cabinet on all these little pieces…

Does not seem like much but took all day long... going to clean out the old shop to use as a paint both tonight and get started on these things...

I got to do those door hinges and then re fit that door before I can spray the truck as I don’t want to be doing that after paint

Honestly you are far to handy for one person. Frame up build , new hardwood, refurbished shop. Dude take a break you are making the rest of us look bad.

Got a lot done last night. Put up all the hinges and other misc. items that I had blasted on Sunday up in the old shop and got them primed and painted… 2 coats of epoxy primer and 2 coats of sand able primer. Then I wet sanded the flat parts and shot it all with green… went really well I think… I did not get a chance to look at them this morning as I was in a hurry to get to a meeting. Took all these pics last night.

Called the sand blaster yesterday and made plans to drop off all the stuff today at noon. So I will do that on my lunch hour. He is going to try to get them to me by tomorrow.. Really there is not that much to do.. We will see if he can make it by then…

Talked with Steve at length last night about how to get all these pieces painted and put on with out messing them all up… we both agreed the best way to do this is to paint all the insides of everything and put it all together and paint the whole truck at one time… (probably minus the doors, they will be fitted but not on when I paint) I may change my mind but we will see..

Lots of thing going through my head on how to keep going on this, and keep at a pace where I can get it all painted in a timely fashion… just a lot of little thing to do that take the time but all need to be figured in…:beer:

cant work tonight but planning on if I get that sheet metal back I will probably shoot that with epoxy on firday night... (you know me and my crazy friday nights... god I need a life :flipoff2:)

So THATS why the neighbor, a single blond with three girls below age 16 constantly has me over....

picked that stuff up at noon... guy had it all done.... looks good... you can see I did all the flat metal on the hood with a DA, I thought I could have saved some $$ by not having to get it soda blasted... he just hit the groves with a real fine sand.... if I were to do it again.. just pay to get the soda done... I bet it took 2 or 3 hours and chewed up a bunch of sand paper.... my goal is to have this sealed up tonight with primer... it has been really humid here so I dont want to deal with any flash rust... I know the windshield frame will need a little bit of body work done to it... the hood seems fine now but we will see as soon as I can get some primer on it and sand it out... probably need a little.

oh yea.. also got another invoice from the guy to put in my paid file... I am scared to add it all up:bang:....... but really who cares........ :D

dont think I will be able to work much this weekend (helping dad again) unless it rains, but I hope it does not... we got lots of work to do at his house... dad if you are reading this you should be working :flipoff2:
